The dialogue in this section is deceptively simple but absolutely perfect for Fu Erdie's character. Let me start with her internal monologue, which is where the real voice lives: "Effort doesn't guarantee success, but giving up is easy." That's it. That's the whole philosophy. Two sentences that capture the entire mood of someone who has survived the apocalypse and is now questioning whether survival was worth the effort. Then there's the exchange with the apartment itself — well, not the apartment speaking, but Fu Erdie speaking to it: "I'm not going to kill myself. Why would I do that?" The apartment doesn't respond. The window won't open. Is the apartment protecting her? Is it just a malfunctioning window? The ambiguity is delicious. And the Zhang Dongxuan interaction at the end is pure comedic gold: "If we can't finish it, we'll just feed it to the little plants. No problem." "But they're already full from eating zombies!" "…It's fine, not a big deal." This is Fu Erdie at her most casual — overproducing food, plants eating zombies, and she's just like, whatever, we'll feed them more. The ellipsis before "It's fine, not a big deal" is doing so much work. She knows it's absurd. She knows Zhang Dongxuan is worried. But she's also genuinely relieved now, and that relief makes her careless in the best way. The narrative voice throughout is also worth praising — it's observational, dryly humorous, never overwrought. When Fu Erdie thinks "Was this Plants vs. Zombies playing out in her building? A real-life version!" it's the kind of self-aware joke that makes the narration feel like a friend telling you a story, not a narrator lecturing you. And the author's decision to end the chapter with the wounded survivor being watched creates this perfect tonal shift — from cozy domesticity to creeping unease, all without a single line of dialogue.
I'm not okay. I am genuinely not okay after reading the Moments post scene. Su Jinxiu is scrolling through her phone, probably exhausted from the loan applications, and she just... stops. Her finger freezes. The latest post shows Zhao Shiyu in a cream-colored Chanel tweed jacket, linking arms with Liu Wanqing, sitting beside floor-to-ceiling windows with an exquisite afternoon tea spread. And the caption: "Afternoon tea with Mommy. So happy~ ❤️" Mommy. She was calling Liu Wanqing Mommy. The word hits Su Jinxiu like a physical blow and the narrative pulls us back twenty-four years to the operating table. Fourteen hours. Emergency cesarean. Anesthesia that hadn't worked properly. She could feel the scalpel slicing through her abdomen. She bit down on a towel with all her strength and never cried out. When the nurse carried the baby over, Su Jinxiu was nearly unconscious but she gathered every ounce of strength to reach out and touch her daughter's wrinkled little face. "My baby... Mommy's precious little baby..." That was the happiest moment of her entire life. And now that baby calls another woman Mommy with a radiant smile and zero guilt. I literally had to pause and breathe after that. What breaks me most is that Su Jinxiu doesn't even cry. The text says she had shed every tear she possessed in her previous life. In this life, she would never waste another one on those people. Three seconds. She opens her eyes and they're colder than ice. That's not healing—that's something else entirely. It's the moment a mother's love calcifies into something weaponized.
I am not okay. I am genuinely not okay with this chapter. Let me just say it: Sang Wu waiting in that pomegranate-red skirt, watching the rain, getting dressed up because a maid showed up and said maybe he's coming tonight—this is the most vulnerable thing I've read in forever. She's never been a wife before. She's never had a proper wedding. She learned to read people's expressions from a young age and hide her own thoughts. But here she is, putting on the most beautiful dress in her wardrobe, and the maids are just losing their minds over it. Yingtao stammering 'so beautiful' and Taozhi blushing. And then the hours pass. The Hour of the Rooster. The Hour of the Dog. The Hour of the Pig. She waits and waits and he doesn't come. The author doesn't even show us Pei Xu's perspective during this waiting—it's all from Sang Wu's point of view, sitting there in red, growing more disappointed with each passing hour. And then the next morning she's serving breakfast to Third Madam like nothing happened, all grace and composure, while Pei Xu shows up with bloodshot eyes from a stormy night. The emotional whiplash is real. This woman is trying so hard to bloom like a peony and the story keeps testing whether she actually has the roots to do it. I cried a little. Don't tell anyone.
"Cousin, you need to be more careful from now on. You can't make mistakes like this again!" I need to talk about this moment because it is so casually cruel and I cannot unsee it. Lin Xiuyan just destroyed Jiang Xinrou's reputation, watched her friend panic and scramble, and then—get this—gave her a hairpin carved with a chicken as a parting gift. A CHICKEN. Like, what is that even supposed to mean? Is it some kind of ironic joke? Does Lin Xiuyan not understand basic human emotions at all? And Jiang Xinrou, sweet desperate Jiang Xinrou, is standing there sweating through her cloak, trying to slip out the side gate at night to explain things to Zhou Chenyang, and Lin Xiuyan just watches her go with this cold glint in her eyes and doesn't stop her. The emotional manipulation here is on another level. Meanwhile Lin Xiuyan is sighing with relief because Ye Junfei isn't there. She doesn't want to see him. And then—plot twist—her father hires him as her etiquette tutor. The universe has a sense of humor and it is NOT kind to her.
Can we talk about the stakes here? Because on the surface, this is a girl going on a spring outing. Nothing dangerous, right? Wrong. The conflict isn't announced with explosions or threats — it's announced with a LOOK. "His phoenix eyes held authority, his gaze was sharp, and he carried an arrogance that looked down on everyone. Those were eyes that radiated control and aggression." And Liu Yun's reaction isn't romantic, it's primal fear. "That one look made Liu Yun's heart stop. She hurriedly pulled her head back in. It scared her to death." What are the stakes? Well, Liu Yun is a young woman in a rigid social hierarchy. The Crown Prince is literally the heir to the throne. One wrong move, one misunderstood glance, one moment of proximity — and her family's modest standing could become a liability. Her father already spent half his savings on a house. They're careful, frugal, invisible. And now she's been seen by the most powerful man in the empire. The tension is maintained perfectly because the author never lets us forget the power imbalance. Even when Liu Yun is swinging on a flower-adorned swing with her best friend, the text reminds us: "The Crown Prince has come today!" with such a grand entourage. The stakes are always there, humming beneath the surface like a plucked string. And I was absolutely sweating for her.

Hi everyone so I allow myself to make a self-criticism towards this novel and in the meantime I don't love it because it's mine (a little) but it's also that I like this kind of Extra story and this project stayed in my mind for a little while, I'm also writing a novel called Slayer of the God or great reincarnation of the vengful god slayer and you can see that my review on it was a bit disappointing unlike SSS Extra, this novel was a test to see if I was really ready to write a novel and now I'm sure with the beginning of SSS Extra
So, MC has a cheat. But not the type where he is highly reliant on it. Though it does seem that way quite a few times but MC is consistently improving and pushing his limits, even when he doesn't have a pressing concern, he still keeps going at his pace. Which is what I love about the MC.
Hi, will you continue translating the novel or has it been dropped?
I am looking forward to reading more of this novel. I enjoy the story very much.
I think it's an incredibly well-written story. Especially all the fights are really fun to read, the chapters are kind of short but I can look past that. And the pacing is really good imo
