Then she moves to Zhao Zixuan's apartment, and the transition is brutal: from the luxurious Emerald Bay Residence to a place that smells like instant noodles, cigarette smoke, and dirty socks. The contrast between the two siblings' living situations tells us everything we need to know about their characters without a single line of exposition. And then the phone call to Zhao Mingyuan—this is where the pacing really shines. Beep... Beep... Beep... After the third ring, the call connects. Five seconds of silence, and then he says "Fine. Seven o'clock. Come to the house." The author could have made this scene drag with more dialogue, but instead they compress it into pure efficiency. Zhao Mingyuan is so confident, so sure that Su Jinxiu has given up, that he agrees immediately. And the reader is sitting there thinking: oh no, he has no idea. The chapter ends with her planning three things—sleeping pills, transferring his money, taking out loans in his name—and the final line: "You stole everything I worked for my entire life. Now... It's time to pay it back." Perfect cliffhanger. Not overwrought, not melodramatic, just cold and inevitable.

The fact that the author included this detail tells me everything I need to know about Xu Zhizhi as a person. And the apartment itself—"a warm, slightly peachy scent greeted them." That single sensory detail. Peachy. Not vanilla, not lavender, but peach. It tells you about her without telling you about her. She's someone who likes soft things, sweet things, things that feel gentle. The oversized bunny-eared slippers, the white rabbit pillow, the small bed she curls up on instead of the sofa. This is a person who creates a world that feels safe for herself, even if the rest of the world feels threatening. The broken streetlights in the residential complex are such a great touch too. A high-end area where every inch is worth a fortune, but three out of five lights are broken and nobody's fixing it. It's this tiny crack in the perfect world that makes it feel real. And Fu Chengyan noticing it, being slightly annoyed—shows that he's observant, that he pays attention to details. He's not just a rich guy in a coat, he's actually present in the world around him. "From a distance, Xu Zhizhi thought he looked like a grim reaper." I love that the narrative stays in her headspace. We're not getting an omniscient view of Fu Chengyan—we're getting Xu Zhizhi's terrified interpretation of him. The dim hazy streetlights, the black overcoat blending into evening darkness, the slightly bowed head. This is horror movie framing for a romance scene and it's brilliant.

He is a cynical, easily angry man with a overall hatred for the world on life. But! He has a sense of humor and a strong desire to not only survive but also thrive in this world. You'll like him, I promise.- "Will he be overpowered?" No. He will certainly become powerful, but not powerful enough kill and clear every obstacle in his way like a God or something.- "Will there be romance?" Yes, but a slow one.-When I mean romance I'm not saying Harem please note.- "How often are you updating?" Currently, I'm dedicated to writing one/two chapter every day.
