I am loving this book!!! The plot is different from other werewolf plots and the character development is awesome!! You really love the characters you should and really hate the ones you wish would get what’s coming for them. I love all your books too! Keep it up!
I need to process what just happened in this chapter because my heart is NOT okay. So Mu Youyou goes into Gu Beiting's room—her FIRST time in his room—and she sees him sweating, shirt off, muscular chest and firm abs, and she just FREEZES. She stammers, 'Ah, um… I'll… pour the water,' and then she literally swallows nervously. Caicai, the absolute monster, tells her 'I'm sure Gu Beiting heard it.' I SCREAMED. I actually screamed. And then she runs back to her room, hides in the space, and Caicai kicks her out like 'Sis, you're coming in now?' And she's under the blanket going 'Just dig a hole and bury me.' Meanwhile Gu Beiting is outside just… smiling. He noticed. He saw her flee and he laughed because 'the little girl seemed quite impressed with his physique.' THE MAN IS A DANGER. He knows exactly what he's doing to her and he's just standing there enjoying it. But here's what got me—the warmth underneath all the fluster. Before this whole thing, there's this lunch scene where they're just eating together, and she puts a piece of rabbit leg in HIS bowl, and he puts a piece in HER bowl, and the text says 'The lunch atmosphere was warm.' That's it. That's the whole romance. Not grand gestures, not dramatic confessions. Just two people who have decided to take care of each other, feeding each other at a wooden table in a military compound kitchen. And then he voluntarily washes the dishes. VOLUNTARILY. After a chapter of him being all stern and protective on the mountain, he comes home and just… does the chores. That contrast is everything.
