The stakes in this passage are absolutely terrifying because nobody is fighting with swords—they're fighting with silence, with lies, with carefully chosen words at dinner tables. Let's break down what everyone stands to lose: Wen Youan stands to lose his health—literally. He's on a hunger strike, lost weight, can't eat. The physical stakes are real and visible. 'His cheeks, which had finally plumped up, were now so thin that his cheekbones were visible.' This isn't drama; this is a boy destroying himself over unrequited feelings. Wen Qing stands to lose her son. Not just lose his affection, but lose him to a political situation she doesn't fully understand. She knows Shi Ruyi is connected to certain factions. She knows the court is dangerous. Her conflict isn't 'I don't like the Crown Princess'—it's 'I've survived this court and I know what happens to people who get too close to power.' Shi Ruyi stands to lose control of her own narrative. Every time she tries to push Wen Youan away, she fails. She can't even notice her mother's guards. She's powerful but blind, and that's her greatest vulnerability. And underneath all of this is the political conflict: Yang Shu's family vs. the Wen family, the Emperor's suspicions, Shi Ronglan being detained by the Emperor. These aren't background details—they're the pressure cooker that's about to explode. The tension is maintained perfectly because every scene has multiple layers of conflict happening simultaneously. The visit scene isn't just 'boy likes girl, mother opposes'—it's also about political alignment, family loyalty, and the unspoken knowledge that the Emperor is watching everyone.
"Your Highness, that is not entirely accurate. Have you forgotten? My Wang family also started as merchants, right here in Jizhou Cheng." I need to sit with this line for a moment. This is what I would call a dialogue nuke. Wang Yu'an says it so casually, almost like he's correcting a minor factual error, but he's actually eviscerating the princess's entire worldview in one sentence. And the best part? He doesn't even raise his voice. He's just... stating facts while watching her squirm. The dialogue in this chapter is remarkably sharp across the board. Let me break down why each character's voice feels distinct: Murong Jing speaks in commands and dismissals. 'Useless fool, let's go!' 'Withdraw.' 'Your lowly merchant family dares to invite this princess for a drink?' Her dialogue is short, sharp, and dripping with entitlement. She doesn't have conversations—she issues decrees. Even her anger is performative. When she kicks Chen Shujin, it's not just physical violence; it's her dialogue turning into action because words aren't enough to express her frustration. Wang Yu'an is the opposite. His dialogue is layered, polite on the surface, and devastating underneath. 'I apologize for my late arrival, Master Ji. Please forgive me.' He apologizes while completely ignoring the fact that armed guards are pointing swords at people. 'Your Highness, could you... allow him to settle this matter before carrying out the execution?' That ellipsis! That pause! He's not asking for permission—he's reminding her that she doesn't have the power to refuse. And then 'Since this is an unrelated matter, there is no need for me to intervene further.' The politeness is the weapon. He's being courteous while watching a man get dropped like trash. Chen Shujin's dialogue is pathetic in the most interesting way. 'Princess, Miss Ji clearly holds great dissatisfaction with this humble scholar. This marriage… I fear…' He's stammering, hedging, trying to position himself as the reasonable one while clearly being the villain. And later, 'Tell your mistress to come to Mulan Yuan to see me!' Even in defeat, he's trying to assert authority. The dialogue reveals everything about his character—his delusion, his entitlement, his inability to accept that he's lost. Master Ji's voice shift is fascinating. From terrified silence to 'this old man boldly requests Your Highness to grace us with your presence and stay for a small drink.' The man is improvising survival in real-time, and the dialogue captures that desperation perfectly. He's offering wine to someone who just threatened to execute his family. The audacity is almost comedic, but it's played straight, which makes it more impressive. The narrative voice itself deserves mention too. It's observant without being overwrought. 'His question only made Chen Shujin feel even more ashamed. Already overwhelmed with humiliation, he now felt dizzy and in excruciating pain.' This is the narrator stepping in to remind us of the physical reality behind the dialogue. It grounds the scene and prevents it from becoming pure verbal sparring. And the onlookers! 'The onlookers: "…"' Just three dots. The narrator uses silence as dialogue. Everyone is watching Chen Shujin get dropped and nobody says anything. The absence of commentary is the commentary.
After reading so far, I did not find any problems at all. The grammars are and there seems to be no problem at all. The story was also very well written, great job author.
This one is actually BETTER than the other one and has improved a lot (mainly cause zxl is proofreading and editing) i believe this guys updating each day right now? anyways as the story progresses the world background also gets clearer new characters and good plot(for now idk if it gets better or not, im a pioneer in the disc so i get rights to read some non edited parts) but yeah recommend read not too fast except the time skips ahem ahem
Nice! This is very much nice. It’s a perfect story worth all of our attention.
I really liked it, hoping it continues like this and the quality doesn't decline..............................................................
I know I'm a shameless writer, IDK think I should give myself 4 stars Guys I think I should give myself this much lol I mean if don't, who will?
oh can't wait for the next chapters. I'm so curious how they ended up there!
The writing is good, the story is good, everything is quite the novel in my opinion i suppose, I'm going to have high hopes for this novel because i already liked the first five chapters, yes, past-paced and many years went by as the MC regress infinitely, gotta love it.and due to the fact instead of dying to many things like.. shot, trampled, suicide like that, the MC literally just died in an dangerous earthquake, and got Isekaied in the world he is now.pretty a recommended read to my opinion again, I'm used to reading isekai novels and this is by far the best fresh story i have ever bumped on to, pretty vigilant and adventurous, the world building is going to be crazy and the story development with some plot development may come closer in the future, and the fact that the houses are in the mid euros.. fascinating, i can easily imagine.
Why should you guys try this story?『Smart Mc 、Smart side character also NPC、 Smart Girls 、No pervert. Always stand on business. Ruthless and Forgiveness both side、And yes Gender Equality for punishment ??』1. The author doesn’t waste time and consistently gives us chapters every week.2. He/She always explains everything unless it’s a #spoiler.3. This is a story about kingdom-building, but you should try it because our MC doesn’t need anything—he alone is 'The Cursed One' and also 'The unpredicted one'(proclaimed by me, not the author).4. The MC doesn’t waste time on unnecessary things like chit-chat or love interests (so far).5. Although I prefer not to have a harem, it’s the author’s choice, and I can’t stop them, so I have to respect their opinion.6. The naming is very easy. But I have to say, the author should create an auxiliary volume where they explain every character’s name and power, like other authors do.7. Although I prefer 2,000 words per chapter, it’s too early to say. But I think within one month, the author can adapt to writing more.8 . Hope Everyone should give it a try.
First of all, I want to give a round of applause to such great work?? I love how the female lead was portrayed...really helpful on my own work
