The pacing in this section is absolutely ruthless and I respect it. We go from Jiang Yunzhi being publicly humiliated at the restaurant—wearing a two-million-yuan dress that still gets criticized, being called a thief in front of her own family—to her ordering a 980,000 bottle of wine and then casually hanging up on her brother mid-rant. That's not just a scene change, that's a complete tonal shift. The author doesn't waste time on her feeling sorry for herself. She eats, she pays, she leaves, she calls her friend, she drinks, she gets confronted by her ex, she kicks him out of a car. The momentum never stops. And then—bam—we cut to Shen Xuzhou at a bar, completely unaware that the tables have turned. His friends are still talking about how Jiang Yunzhi used to chase him, and the reader is sitting there like 'bro, she doesn't even know you exist anymore.' That dramatic irony is delicious. The chapter ends with this quiet, almost domestic moment of her leaving milk for Yan Wenjing, which is such a soft landing after all that chaos. It gives the reader a breath, a smile, and then the next chapter probably hits them with something else. The author knows exactly when to accelerate and when to slow down. The transition from the loud, angry family dinner to the intimate, drunken hallway encounter to the silent 3:30 AM kitchen scene is a masterclass in emotional pacing.
