First and foremost, I strongly recommend this book! (As of writing, I am only chapter 26 in, but it seems the book has started very recently). Pro's: 1. World building: The author thus far has built the world in a way I consider refreshing compared to other novels I have read. Instead of information dumping everything from the get go, we are "shown" rather than "told". I read the whole book some times I was happy sometimes I was sad in tears it was a roller coaster if u r new to reading Chinese stories I don't recommend it personally because ther is too much characters. One of the greatest stories there is plot twist and lot of romance I cried hor an hour some people will tell me I'm weak but who doesn't read the whole story and doesn't cry. I hoped the writer will have a sequel but he doesn't intended to write a sequel

This book is, what can I say, a great book if you haven't read a lot of Chinese books. But once you have already read tens of novels of different genres and themes, it becomes unbearable as it takes almost all of the clichés in Chinese novels. After reading to about 100 chapters, I started feeling kind of irritated.Well, nobody's perfect.
Okay I need to talk about the atmosphere in these first seven chapters because WOW. The author really knows how to paint a picture of 1995 Hong Kong without ever stopping the story to give me a history lecture. You feel the heat, the humidity, the grime of Sham Shui Po just from the prose. The electrical shop with the TV broadcasting live news, the yellowed police tape, the neighbors packed tight like sardines — it's all so vivid. But the scene that absolutely wrecked me was the stairwell. A mother covering her child's eyes, the kid complaining about the stuffiness, and then that nursery rhyme drifting up from somewhere. 'One, two, three, hurry and hide. Four, five, six, can't be found. Seven, eight, nine...' and then Li Heng turns to the skeleton and whispers 'Caught you now.' I literally got goosebumps. The way the author uses that innocent children's game as a framing device for a corpse buried under cement for six years — that's not just clever, that's genuinely haunting. The tenement building itself feels like a character. Dust-covered furniture, the rusted broom on the balcony, the withered flowers in neat little pots. Someone took care of this place once. Someone lived here. And now it's just... a tomb. The golden evening sunlight filtering through dust particles — that image stuck with me for hours after reading. The world feels lived-in and real. Not some glossy detective fantasy. This is Hong Kong, and you can smell it.

Here is my insight of this novel of mine. Okay the story follows to talented engineers from the modern world that got whisked into another world after getting hit by a truck. They woke up in an unknown feeble body living in the parallel late nineteenth century america. They are forced to survive by working like everybody else and few years later, they started their own company. Now the reason why I wrote this novel is because I was looking for this type of story. But there was no luck, there are some but it was staged in medieval fantasy, realistic medieval otome or villainess, or even ancient times. Most often, the characters are reborn into noble family, sometimes it's more of a kingdom building. Those are in the mainstream and I wanted new ones. And then there is this anime called Ascendance of Bookworm. If you don't know about it, it's about a nerd girl teenager who transmigrated as Myne. She used her modern knowledge to get ahead of others like inventing papers, hairclips, soaps and shampoo. And there I wondered, what if instead of medieval age, what if I set the story, two or three century ahead? Like late nineteenth century? A period of rapid industrialization, scientific advancement, and social change. Why settle for papers when you can build the first automobiles, a more cooler guns, aircrafts, electricity, and oil and gas. And make it a business novel where they used their modern knowledge to churn out modern technology that is decades ahead of others. And the result is this. Well, this novel is a more of a slice-of-life, I think you know what that means. There will be antagonist, challenges, and the characters resolved it, and then there will be another. So expect that this novel will last hundred more chapters. Expect a lot of timeskips. Well, they are dealing with technology here that can't be built in a day or a week, so instead of me describing their everyday life on every chapter, why not do a timeskip right?Romance? Hmm...there will be romance for each of our main characters and their own moments but they are not the focus, but you'll see me often teasing it. About the setting. Well, it's a parallel late nineteenth century so expect some similarities to our own world history. While this novel may feature a character with the same name as a famous historical figure, please be advised that any similarities in personality, behavior, or appearance are purely coincidental and should not be taken as an accurate representation of the real person. And that's it, I hope you enjoy this novel. If you are reader of RIP, you'll enjoy this. Think of it as the main characters building the Imperial Dynamic Systems.
