Technician Zhang is a formal worker at the machinery factory and the son of Aunt Zhang. He is the same age as Shu Yuan, twenty-five years old. His mother insists on accompanying him to the blind date. He is attracted to Shu Yuan's good looks and wants to marry her despite her unemployment, believing she can still barely qualify to marry into their family. When Shu Yuan rejects him and calls his family out for looking for a childbearing machine, he becomes flustered and stammers that a lot of men think that way about wanting a son. He chases after Shu Yuan as she leaves, wanting to have a proper conversation.
