Qi Yu is the young boy, son of Qi Qige and Princess Qingyang. He has always been more serious and studious than his peers, spending his time either reading or calculating. He carries a small golden abacus everywhere, a trait that Cao Xi finds amusing, as she jokes that genes are quite something. His father Qi Qige thinks he is just too lively. Qi Yu is soon pulled away by his father to learn his lessons. He is one of the three children who excitedly run outside to watch the fireworks during the family gathering at Qin Zhao's house. He embodies scholarly discipline and contrasts with the more playful nature of other children.
