Eldest daughter-in-law of Old Madam Zhao and mother of Zhao Yanping. She came from a poor family and was the most beautiful girl in the surrounding villages. She was persuaded by Old Madam Zhao to become a second wife to a wealthy landowner during a famine for the sake of her children Yanping and Xiangyun. Villagers slandered her, and her son Zhao Yanping reportedly stopped smiling at his grandmother after believing the rumors.
