The protagonist and narrator, a young woman under twenty years old. She has a Four Yin constitution and was born near a lonely grave. One of her three souls and seven spirits was taken by a wandering ghost at birth. She was supposed to die at age ten but was saved by the Dragon King Yupai. She removed the Yupai at a gathering, which caused all the supernatural troubles. She is referred to as Yaoyao by her grandmother figure.
