C227 Trouble! Trouble! Stir up some trouble!
The uploaded memory fragments of Gawain Cecil? And the eighteen times of decoding trail? Levying more computing power?
This pop-up message immediately caught Gawain’s attention. He changed his mind and the endless loading in his mind stopped. He decided to dig out more behind this message.
The Eternal Sleepers obviously didn’t do much to secure their data. Unencrypted data and a net structure without any alarming system had made hacking a child’s play for Gawain. Even though he was far from being familiar to this network, but with the devoured knowledge, through trial and error, it didn’t take long for him to figure out how to control the information and track the flow.
After a thorough reconsideration, Gawain realized, it might be unfair to ascribe to their naïve network security knowledge.
The network, in fact, was secured, until his incursion. First, in order to access the network, one must be an Eternal Sleeper with reshaped psych-world by specific fallen theurgy and pass the registration authentication of the Eternal Sleeper Mental Network. Second, the network had a sufficient verification and authentication management function. Except for an account required to link to the net, individual must also have the permission to stay active in different areas, one example is the barrier shielding the central area.
Since soul was unduplicable in regular situations, this kind of “account management” was quite reliable. However, this security system had a fatal defect: once an individual had both the qualification to be connected and the proper permission, his could do basically whatever he wanted to do. Just like Gawain, even though he was crawling data recklessly, giving meaningless or even wrong commands, behaving so suspiciously, the network still would not fire any alert.
In short, this network was impenetrable from the outside, but undefendable from the inside.
It would be too much to ask for the Eternal Sleepers to take Gawain into consideration. A soul with the ability to control satellite and feign mental network permissions through digesting other souls was all but foreseeable.
Gawain gradually closed his eyes pretending to meditate. Actually, he was trying to retrieve everything about that message in the network. He was attempting to allocate as much useful information as possible before signing out.
This network indeed had an sever loophole, but Gawain would never underestimate the capabilities of the people in this world, especially these Eternal Sleepers. The loophole existed simply because the network was still unfinished. It was only a matter of time for it to be fixed. God knows how talented these daydreaming cults could be in fixing bugs.
After several trials, Gawain finally mastered the tricks of crawling information in the network. He tried searching “the memory fragments of Gawain Cecil” and fortuitously found a lot:
So far, the Eternal Sleepers had tried 17 times to crack the memory fragments without any success. The most calamitous one happened after they creating some kind of computational array with hundreds of powerful members: they tried brute force attack, and none of them survived.
After that, these cults learned their lesson. Instead of brute force attack, they tried to cut fragments and understand the smaller fragments abstractly. Thus far, this had drove another more than 300 elite members to meet their god.
The source of these fragments was unexpected but not surprising: the devoured cult. He secretly uploaded these fragments through the mental link while Gawain was busy absorbing and digesting his soul.
He never gave in. He tried till the last second of his life to send more memory to his associates. And this really surprised Gawain.
This poor guy was probably trying to warn his folks, to expose the true “Gawain Cecil”; or maybe he just wanted to send back some useful information; or, which should be the closest to the truth, he had b

Shameless author review here. Yep, it's a thing. I am my own harshest critic, but I believe this story to be brilliant. And trust me, I'm not the only one. I have recently been to the future with a time travelling device and I have brought back some of the feedback my hit novel received from some of the world's most respected reviewers:
***That Random Blind Guy Who Lives in a Train Station Bathroom called it "The single greatest work of fiction he has ever seen!" and he fixed his blind eyes just so that he could "read the damn thing!"
***The New York Times fired their entire roster of journalists and started printing fiction just so that they could "Print Easy Tiger's masterpiece".
***Roger Ebert's clone called it an "action-packed spectacle that will have action-junkies the world over squealing in giddy delight!"
***The Pope references it in the new bible because it was "just that damn good!"
***Hollywood are fighting over the rights to a screenplay because it is a "action-packed thrill-ride in a fictional world filled with unlimited potential."
***President Trump Jr has made the work compulsory reading for all High school students as he considered it a "masterpiece of action literature unseen since Shakespeare".
***The novel also saved the global economy from Covid-19 as "90% of the world's population have rushed out to buy themselves a physical copy".
So there you have it. Your enjoyment of this work is guaranteed. So go ahead and give it a go!
If you don't trust me, trust in the future.
Not a bad novel in the slightest. The characters immediately get their distinct personalities which makes the dialogue a whole lot better than average. The story is still starting to pick up but I have good faith in it. I expect good things for the author and really hope he delivers! Good luck in the competition my rival!

Important message to all potential readers please read.Hi author here first I want to say thank you for reading my book it’s my second book but it really feels like my first. Im stIll new to this my writing is still Rocky but i do intead to improve as long as I keep going.(So plz forgive the shameless 5 stars)Second thing is that I’ve marked PlaceHolder Shaman as a male leading series when really it’s a female leading series I don’t wanna miss lead anyone but I did this because the male category has more to choose from were the female category is very limited in it’s selection. Placeholder is not a romance nor is it Really a fanatsy it’s an action series with a lead that just happens to be a girl. I hope this isn’t a deal breaker for you and I hope you’ll join me for this journey.
Nice work? The flow of narrative was great kept me engaged. Didn't feel like you were a first timer at all! Looking forward for more such chapters and stories from you.
The translation ruins the story, and even if it was written in perfect english the interactions and MCs personality are absolutely horrendous ? everything and anything that takes place makes me cringe
Since I have reached chap 97 I think it is time to give this a lengthy review. First I'll do it according to webnovel and then I shall rant. DO NOT read the rant if you don't want spoilers.WRITING QUALITYI really have no criticism here. The grammar is good, the story is fluid. Dialogues are put well and you can easily follow who says what. Overall, a pleasant surprise here.STORY DEVELOPMENTVery nice honestly. The world is alive and functions without the protagonist. There is an element of mystery surrounding the plot which enhances the stakes and makes progression all the more enjoyable. I do have a few things here that I dislike but that will come in the rant part.CHARACTER DESIGNThe characters are alive! They actually think and aren't just your cardboard cutouts of stereotypes. The MC shows his intelligence and doesn't just pull it out of nowhere like many other "genius" protagonists. The side cast could do with a bit more work but nothing major.WORLD BACKGROUNDI've already said that the world is alive. There is an actual economy in the background. There are shops and vendors and whatnot, not just your typical black market auctions. The apocalypse is also relevant in the way people of this novel think and act. The world is consistent.RANTINGI hate when tech type MCs don't explore their creative abilities beyond just making armoured suits and weapons. I want an MC that will make a car/plane/ship or any other vehicle. There is more to machines than just mechs and such. He made a powered armour that can run for more than an hour and also take a beating, but his knowledge and tools are still extremely rudimentary? How is he not making just your general appliances, eg a fridge would probably be a revolution. Running water has also been identified as a problem, why not solve that? Making a buggy to explore the ruins of the old world would probably also be a pretty high-priority goal. Speaking of vehicles, there is a critical lack of them in here. The logistics of the Lord's territory puzzle me. How are materials transported between cities? Is it only Rust doing the transport? If so why has there been no mention of the transport mess that was certainly happening during the tournament? Are there other ways of transport? Trains or zeppelins? Are there are no zeppelins because of idk birds, why not mention that? I hope the world expands because it really holds a lot of potential.
One of the better novels I have come across in the read free section.
A captivating read. When the author is on point you will be hard pressed to find a better read. At times the author gets bogged down in development or distracted but this doesn't detract from the story and doesn't last long. I think this is more updating frequency and story catching up to where author has fully flushed the story.
Character development and interactions is some of the best. I'm a binge reader so this is something I notice in almost all novels and tends to be hard to maintain. not noticeable if you read 20 chapters a day but noticable when 100 chapters in a day. and this is the only reason I couldn't give it 5 stars.
wether you binge read or read a little at a time this novel will keep calling you back that's for sure
The writer has good potential but he does not do enough research about the country hes trying to write the story setting in. His book literally has many errors in culture like guns being rare in the United States or businesses doing cooperations because hes too lazy to Describe the actual business transactions. At 1st the book was good and I can pass up the shotty writing but when you go through about a 130 chapters of it and you still see really glaring and I'm carrying mistakes that just make the Book unreadable in a choppy mess.
I like the theme of this book. I will avoid writing any spoilers here, so that readers can thoroughly enjoy their journey through this story. Full of suspense and all sorts of mysterious encounters. Loving it!
