A very intriguing book and a must read
The blurb at first attracted me to the book.. The first chapter got me wanting for more. And the second chapter didn't disappoint me. I'm loving this story, and I'm looking forward to more updates.

The opening scene in the restaurant during the sign-changing ceremony is so vividly written. You can literally see it—the staircase where Yan Langqing looks down at Lin Dan with that mix of confusion and arrogance, the old gourmets gathered for the celebration, the way the crowd shifts from sympathizing with the Yans to turning against them. The author really knows how to stage a public confrontation like a courtroom drama. And then the inn scene! The noisy group arriving, the innkeeper blocking the door, the old woman wailing outside while people gather as onlookers. It's such a stark contrast—from the grand restaurant with all its prestige to this cheap inn on the outskirts where Lin Dan and her mother are trying to survive on one hundred and twenty taels. The visual of Lin Dan cracking open the window to peek outside and seeing Yan Shouye supporting the old woman, calling her mother, is haunting. You can feel the desperation in that image. The white silk wrapping around the memorial tablet, Lin Dan holding it close to her chest as she walks downstairs to face the crowd—that's a shot that belongs in a period drama. The author doesn't need fancy descriptions; the emotions and actions paint the scene well enough.
I love this book make my heart beat
It's a good read but the plot is so all over the place its a struggle to follow. Like the author doesn't know where they're going with the story so they just keep piling on random things to try to make up for the lack of direction.
Is chapter 25 meant to be posted twice??
