Since this novel is just out, I'll give my initial impressions. I think this novel is undoubtedly a novel that should be skipped or ignored if your an experienced or avid reader on this site. This novel is overly simplistic in its characters, narrative and story to its detriment. The mc is a Gary Stu. If you don't know what that means it's basically a male character who through The power of plot can do whatever The writer sets him out to do regardless if it makes sense or not. A normal man in modern times suddenly gets powers and can fight like an experienced fighter. Makes sense. Female characters instantly like him after a first encounter. Makes sense. Randomly geting a space ring full of wealth and knowledge. Makes sense. The writing clearly ignores these plot holes in its narrative. It's pearly wish fulfillment and I don't see that changing in the future of this novel.
I would recommend this novel to first time readers of this genre or readers to this site. It's light hearted, easy to follow and simple. It will ignite a bit of interest in this genre and draw eager readers.
Unless wish fulfillment stories that are written at a 6th grade(12 year old) writing level is something you generally enjoy. I advise to stay away from this novel. It's a waste of time.
haha , no cliches here . Yandre is in moderation and no harem with teacher and student even though there is attraction of students towards their beautiful teacher
I think the story is progressing very well. The characters are well thought out and the story is going in the right places. Don’t let my review cloud your judgements, read the story at least until chapter 10.
Havent read it yet, but I really enjoyed nanomancer reborn and have high hopes for this?
Content wise, I say three things; I LOVE IT! The plot is very interesting and has really caught my attention. I'm very curious as to how everything came as it is and I can't wait to know as the author drop more chapters in the future. I also like Jin, I love his calm demeanor and level-headedness, or at least that what I noticed about him so far. And no, it's not a spoiler.
Grammar and structure wise, it does need a little touch up, but just a little. Seriously, it's something one can just ignore if they love the story, well that's what I did. But over all, the story is fantastic and I can't wait to read more of it! Keep it up Author-san!
Dropped.
I think this might be the first trial read novel I've dropped before even reaching the paid chapters. I'm sorry, but I seriously could not continue anymore. This is fairly similar to Library of the Heavens, which I kind of enjoyed initially but dropped after some several hundred chapters and could never get back into because frankly it was a pretty trashy novel. But to each their own, and I could understand why people liked it since the face slapping was kinda entertaining while it lasted (I dropped because it got pretty repetitive and it honestly felt like he went out of his way to make people misunderstand him). That being said, maybe I've gotten too old for that kind of writing now.
Honestly reading this, it was really freaking cringey and felt pretty unrealistic. The MC has an unreal amount of arrogance and confidence in his ability that I'm not sure where it comes from (the system? his ability to see potential?). I couldn't understand why he took actions that, to me, felt pretty disadvantageous to him and I felt like there was a better way of doing these, but he seemed to prioritize short term satisfaction. In addition, I've never really liked a relationship that I consider unequal (in other words, one partner is considered lesser than the other by others - so the extraordinarily beautiful and talented one and then the untalented frog that lusts after swan meat one). From what I read so far, neither the MC nor his fiancee appealed to me at all and honestly I disliked both of them. With both the main character and the supposed female lead being like that, I really couldn't continue reading.
I honestly wish this wasn't chosen. The Secret Agent (despicable and perverted MC but surprisingly very entertaining) or the Senior Brother novel (cautious MC that's quite different from the usual chinese novel MC) were both so much better. I hope either one of these will get chosen later at least, since they haven't disappeared from the trial read yet.
I am back. As I promised, a review after reading 200+ chapters. Currently I have read till chapter 400, so I believe I might be able to shed some more light on this story and what you can expect.
To began with, I am reading this through raws, so I can't comment on translator quality or stability of update. But, from the already released 60 chapters, the translation quality is readable but not exactly upto the bar.
One thing I like about the story is it's simplicity. Until now, author has stayed true to the main theme of the story : collecting debt and bringing back the bank to its former glory.
Most CN stories seem to forget why they started the story. Everything just seems to spiral out of control. Every arc will have its own mission. There is no end goal.
But here you can see what the story is about. MC doesn't deviates from ut. It does has smaller arcs but they are there to support and fill in the main theme.
Another thing which makes me like this story more is short filler arcs. Oh, there are fillers arcs, short side story arcs, supporting chapters and what not. But author clearly recognises on where to stop. You won't find stupid tournament arcs or trasure hunting arcs stretching over several tens of chapters.
Coming to the MC. He's OP. Which actually suits the theme of the story. He doesn't acts like your genric OP MC. You won't find him bullying people or slaughtering families. In fact, he rarely leaves the bank. It's mostly his ever increasing group of subordinates who collect debt. Only when they kick a hard stubble will the MC come to deal with it.
Now about his personality. Please don't expect proper character building and depth. He's no character from ASOIF or something from the hands of Sanderson, Abercrombie or Butcher. He's quite simple and honestly, one dimensional. One thing in his favour is his modern sensibilities.
Atleast until now I haven't seem him having any inclination for harem. Infact he dislikes harem. So harem haters will definitely like this. He's not dense and something is building between him and Seven. It's not romance but there are flirting moments here and there. I won't spoil it further but its pretty good for a non romantic CN novel.
And yes he's not stupid. You can see why he's making a deal. He knows when he can rip someone off and when he has to stay neutral. Pretty good imo.
One thing which ticks me off, is side charcter development. They are fanatical in belief to the level of zealots. The angels have NO character growth or development. They are like NPCs to help the MC. Only needed when a side quest requires it. Pretty sad. They could have fleshed out the story further. But I can see that author wants to play safe. Dealing with multiple characters is not a simple task. You need to balance the fine line between too less and too much.
World development is a bit icky. You have ten mortal world's, nine immortal worlds and one big celestial/divine world. The raw terms are a bit confusing so please forgive me if these do not match the translation. The world is not exactly fleshed out. You know it's there but that's it. It's both good and bad. You don't have long arcs wasted on/in other worlds but at the same time , you don't have much impression of those worlds.
I haveany more things to say, but I will story here. I will just summarise the whole review.
Pro :
1: Single goal. No nonsense targets or anything.
2: Very less filler.
3: No Harem.
4: MC with modern sensibilities.
5: MC is not stupid
Cons :
1: one dimensional character.
2: Zealot subordinates and no development.
3: No world development.
Note :
1: OP MC
That's it for now. Cya.
Well I think I have read enough to give a review of what I think about the novel.
Since this is author's first work, he has taken a lot of ideas from other novels, you are sure to find a lot of references but only in the starting chapters. Although the general introduction of the early life of our Main character in the new world is inspired by 'Desolate era' , but this doesn't change the fact that this is an original work since the essence of the main plot is completely different with unexpected events.
There are few grammatical mistakes in some chapter otherwise it's quite nicely written with enough content in each chapter so that you could fully enjoy it. No major info dumps in the start. It's neither a slow paced nor a fast paced story but yeah at some point you might surely think that things have gotten sometime too fast or slow.
•>Main character:- Our mc is a great assassin from earth, died after being betrayed by his contracter. He was cold blooded man who was all alone after he lost everything but this doesn't effect his character in his new life, he is loving guy who cares a lot for his family. Not a dumb guy for sure but the one who plans everything in his mind only at the cost of asking a lot of silly questions. If I could describe him in as little words as possible I would say he is emotionally driven.
•>World building:- The world is slowly opening up for our mc. You can sit back and enjoy as the world unfold infront of you.
so far I'm up to chapter 97 and I have to say this is an awesome novel. all the characters a likable and it is a very funny novel with some good action. the main character is not over powered so far. definitely reccomend it.
"Loli! Your body is so pure... You have to forcibly remove the sailor suit you' re wearing. Even if you're pushed over, you have to choose a natural one. Don't forget to give her a few lollipops!
Kirby has to run away quickly. The yellow monster wants to be gay. It will not agree to have its anus poked or go all out to hug it!
Destroy the wives and let the mature ladies be harmonious. Loli controls the creation of a new world. The fresh, tender, pure body shines with countless charm and holiness!"
