Okay so I need to talk about Madam He because WOW. This woman is genuinely terrifying and I cannot stop thinking about her. On the surface she's the perfect gentle mother figure—patting Song Wei's hand, calling her 'good Wei'er,' acting all soft and concerned. But read between the lines and it's pure venom. The moment she says 'there's something that might require you to make a sacrifice'—that's when I knew. She's already planned this. She's been waiting for Song Tang to throw a fit so she could slide Song Wei into the Marquis's mansion like a chess piece. And Song Wei? 'Wei'er is willing to do anything'—she's playing the sweet cousin role so well I almost felt bad for her. Almost. But here's what really got me: Madam He tells Song Wei that the Heir 'seems to have taken a liking to you as well.' LIKING. She's planting this idea deliberately, making Song Wei think there might be real affection here, when really it's all calculated. And then she adds 'I think the Heir seems to have taken a liking to you'—wait, SHE thinks? Or does SHE know? The ambiguity is delicious. Meanwhile Song Tang sees right through all of it. She looks her father dead in the eyes and calls him out: 'You're just worried that if I cancel the engagement, Song Wei won't be able to marry over, right?' She knows exactly what game is being played. And her response—offering to ensure Song Wei marries Mu Ziyu in her place—is both generous and devastating. She's sacrificing her own future to protect her family, and everyone around her is using that generosity as a weapon. The mother-daughter dynamic between Madam He and Song Tang is absolutely broken. Song Tang was raised by Grandmother, not her. She's been an outsider in her own home. And now she's paying the price for it—having to negotiate for love and security while Song Wei, the adopted daughter who got all the doting, gets handed everything on a silver platter. I'm genuinely worried about what Song Tang is walking into. She just cancelled her engagement and got 10,000 taels, but she's still surrounded by people who see her as a tool. The only person who's shown her genuine kindness is Marquis Mu, and that's... complicated, isn't it?
F*ck. At first I was excited thinking that this is an exciting and wonderful novel, but I was disappointed ?. THIS IS SH*T ??????????

This is one of the best novels I have read since I read Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint and this might actually be better than it. I have currently read up to Chapter 373 and I still see more. There are very few ploy holes that actually affect the story and the character development is amazing. I love this novel but sometimes I hate this novel but not for the reason that you are thinking. This is my first time writing a review so I’m not sure how to say what I am thinking and it still be readable but this story is amazing and I fully recommend that you read it even if only up to the end of volume 1.
All in all, this novel seems pretty generic when placed among similar novels of the same genre. Nonetheless, it's a nice way to kill time. One very giant peeve that I had while reading was that almost every single damn conflict was due to the opponent thinking with their dick and being envious of the MC having such a beautiful companion. When the MC proceeds to beat them up, they apparently always have a high ranking brother/cousin/uncle/whatever to 'avenge' them. You see where I'm going here? This hasn't happened just once or twice, but EVERY time the MC has solved the previous one, the next randomly pops up. So damn annoying. It's so damn forced. Even the chance encounter with the damn girl in the first place was forced af. Randomly chancing upon a girl with peerless features and talent in a small town probably not even on the map? Come on.
loving the book can't wait for more
