She's not doing it for credit or praise, she's doing it because she's fundamentally a good person. That's the kind of plot twist that makes you respect the author's writing. The way the scene pivots from social drama to physical danger to Jiang Yihuan collapsing from exhaustion—it all flows so naturally. And then the Crown Prince subplot about Sun Junchen and the possible surviving heir of Crown Prince Zhangde? That's a completely different thread being woven in, and it's handled with such economy. Just a few lines of dialogue and suddenly the political stakes are raised. The author trusts the reader to connect the dots. One thing I'm still thinking about though: why did Miss Xu push herself into that situation? Was it deliberate manipulation or genuine clumsiness? The text leaves it ambiguous and I'm not sure which answer is more interesting.

She's not even being genuine at first. She's performing. She's calculating. She's trying to survive. But then the tears become real because she's actually terrified — of losing her legs, of being locked away, of this violent man. And Xie Fangzhu sees through it partially but also doesn't. He's confused by his own reaction. The tension between them is electric. I also love how the text describes her wrapping her hands around his rough calloused ones. That contrast — her soft palms against his work-worn hands — it's so visual and so symbolic. She's reaching out to someone who has every reason to push her away. And for a split second, he almost doesn't. That's the kind of moment that makes you hold your breath.
There's this one moment where Hua Zhiyun goes to wash at the stream and someone tries to shove her in. A VINE wraps around Lady Li's legs instead. Just... a vine. From nowhere. And Hua Zhiyun is standing there smiling like she didn't just summon plant magic to save herself. The imagery throughout these chapters is so vivid I could smell everything. The stream water described as crystal clear but then downstream it's covered in dog feces, cow dung, and horse urine because everyone's washing there. Midsummer heat, the stench, the flies. And Chu Linzhang watching "maggots wriggling inside the wounds on his wrists." I actually had to pause because that image was so brutal. The prison cart itself feels like a character—this filthy, confined space where the once-mighty Prince Chu is reduced to a broken man who can't even move his limbs. And the guards? Chen Dali lashing Chu Huaiyu's face with a whip because she dared to speak up about their noble status. The crack echoing. The bloody mark. These exiles aren't just physically confined, they're being systematically stripped of every layer of dignity. The Chu family members complaining about sleeping outdoors while Hua Zhiyun sits comfortably on the supply wagon is such a perfect visual of the new power dynamic. She doesn't even have to say anything—she just exists above them, eating a cucumber, and they're all too terrified to complain.
From my perspective, your story has a strong foundation with its classic hero’s journey setup. Kevin’s role as the chosen Four Swords Master gives the story a sense of destiny and responsibility, which can be compelling if developed well. However, the novel could benefit from more polished writing and deeper world-building. The pacing should allow readers to connect with Kevin’s struggles and victories rather than rushing through key moments. Additionally, expanding on the lore behind the Four Swords Master could add more depth to the story. Overall, it’s a promising concept, but its impact depends on execution. Overall it's pretty good! It can drag in some parts and feels like info is being dumped on us at the beginning, but it's got a lot of potential. Also, be careful that you don't switch tenses mid-sentence (past to present). You don't do it often, but it sticks out when you do.
Honestly, there are many stories with the MC as a professor who exudes a powerful aura with a stern, disciplined, and unapproachable demeanor. When I read this novel, I realize the protagonist in this story, almost similar to 'A Villain's Will to Survive,' as both are about a third-rate villain known for his elegance, arrogance, and perfectionism, masking many secrets. The MC in this novel is obsessed with his past missing/dead sister, whom he replaces with his current sister after transmigration. In contrast, the MC in 'A Villain's Will to Survive' is obsessed with his ex-girlfriend, whom he replaces with his fiancée after transmigration. I just hope that the author doesn't end this novel as disappointingly as 'A Villain's Will to Survive.' So here we have a brocon MC. What I want to see from this novel is perhaps for Charlotte, his current sister, to become more siscon and more possessive. This novel has good inc*st material if the author wants to go in that direction lol, though anti-inc*st readers will hate it. The good part of this story is how the author handles and connects each arc. When the author introduced Arwen as a background character, I was surprised at how it brought many red threads in this story. It introduce many new arch that have connection with Arwen. For critics, with MC behavior, I don't consider MC is a suitable romantic lead, especially in harem genre. That's why I'm not particularly fond of how the author introduces numerous heroines to fall in love with the MC. It's better pair Astrid with Ezra, original protagonis, rather than making Astrid develop a crush on the MC. I think, in the original timeline, Astrid had a closer relationship with Ezra as a rival and tsundere heroine. Again, my critics, Ezra's character is too similar with Sylvia's from 'A Villain's Will to Survive,'. Both are perfectionist and even have similar in their stalking behaviors. More over both have their mothers' deaths attributed to the MC. Oh, dear author, you can't make an outright copy of that one, too. Additionally, Margaret is similar to Julie from 'A Villain's Will to Survive'—both are knights with a strong sense of justice but are betrayed by their comrades. Many readers of 'A Villain's Will to Survive' were disappointed because, in the end, after much teasing, the MC did not end up with Julie. Will you do the same, author? Just pair MC with his sister?
