This chinese novel stands out among all the generic trash that are considered good these days. I dont know if people's tastes have been diluted too much due to the trashy nature of chinese novels or they were just that miserable to begin with.Anyway, about it novel... This novel has truly great characters. None of them are left behind as loose ends, the mc isnt that dense and he doesnt just ignore others feelings for him. Although harems sound appealing they are not really practical in the modern age. That said im truly happy that this guy isnt just another cliche mc with heavenly beauties falling on his lap every few chapters. Also the lifes and deaths of the people close to mc are depicted beautifully, especially the deaths. I've never felt this much emotion from a chinese novel in a long time.There is also this eerie sense of suspense and mystery surrounding the characters and the world for the first 1000 chapters or so. It felt really good when all of those linked up to give a proper end instead of just attributing it to some random stuff like heavenly secrets or so.The daos are also clearly defined and the cultivation system is really good. MC doesnt really have much of an advantage when compared to others. Plot armour doesnt protect him all the time and he also has his ups and downs in life.There are a lot of characters in this novel but they are all properly developed. They all have their own stories and are not just sidekicks of the MC.The only problem i have with this novel is that its just a constant pursuit of a woman. I need to see the end of this somewhere, and ill really be disappointed if the novel ends with him just finding his woman. Atleast i want to see them have a happy life together. I understand that cultivation novels are supposed to be an eternal pursuit of godhood or glory they should atleast have these moments of peace and happiness. It makes the characters look more human and gives more depth to them.I have found other faults with this novel but they are not to the point where they have to be addressed and corrected. Some of these just make the story what it is. Anyway i had fun reading this and i hope they can translate faster.

That's not hypothetical danger—that's her actual knowledge of the plot giving her real-time terror. And then Fu Yuanzheng appears and the tension just escalates. Every candidate who looks at him dies. Or at least, that's what everyone believes. Yao Chengcheng's internal panic is so relatable—she's doing the math in her head, trying to remember details, realizing she didn't read the book carefully enough. The moment she squeezes her eyes shut and refuses to look? That's a smart survival instinct, and it almost works. But then he threatens to gouge out her eyeballs and serve them with wine, and she cracks. She opens her eyes. She sees him. She SWALLOWS. The guards drag her out and she's convinced she's dead. Then Eunuch Fu reveals that nobody is dying—Fu Yuanzheng just doesn't want to continue the selection. The relief must have been electric. And then he FALLS. Another crisis. Another chance to prove herself or die trying. She charges into the main hall and basically offers her life as collateral: 'I should atone with death! Your symptoms are due to low blood sugar! I have a solution!' What makes this so gripping is that every scene has life-or-death stakes, but the author never lets you forget that Fu Yuanzheng himself is the biggest threat. He's not just dangerous to others—he's dangerous to himself. The anorexia, the vomiting, the smashing of bowls, the year-long refusal to eat. He's slowly killing himself and everyone around him is walking on eggshells. The assassination attempts from the Eastern Palace add another layer—this isn't just a grumpy prince, this is a political minefield. And Yao Chengcheng walks right into the middle of it all with nothing but almond tofu and sheer audacity. I was absolutely sweating for her. How is she going to survive this man?!
Okay so let me just say this chapter had me doing full emotional whiplash and I am here for it. Su Yue pulls out the diamond VIP card like she's got some kind of superpower—"my husband is a shareholder"—and honestly the audacity is almost impressive. But then Wen Qingli just... calls her dad on speakerphone. Right there in the shop. That moment when Wen Mingyuan's voice comes through saying "Don't you dare take advantage of my affection for you to bully her"—I literally gasped. The power dynamic flipped so fast it was dizzying. The author is setting up SO many threads here. I need to know what happens next.
