Let's talk about Cheng Cheng because this character is an absolute masterpiece of comedic writing. The man hears the word "Tyrant Boss" and his brain immediately constructs an entire romantic drama where Cen Miao is a "pure, innocent little white flower" who got driven out by adoptive parents and now lives with her devastatingly handsome tycoon husband who wants to know what she eats at school. SIR. You have watched one short drama and now you're rewriting someone's entire life story in your head. The dialogue here is doing so much heavy lifting. Cheng Cheng's internal monologue reads like a bad web novel and that's the joke—the author is perfectly satirizing the tropes while also making us fall in love with this delusional but well-meaning friend. "Ahh! He had just seen a short drama like this recently." The self-awareness is chef's kiss. And then there's the contrast with Cen Miao's actual speech patterns. "Hubby! You're awesome! I really like it!" versus "Why do I have to call you brother? Are you a bad person trying to trick me?" These two voices are completely distinct. Cen Miao speaks in short, literal sentences because he's processing human social rules in real time. Cheng Cheng speaks in runaway train paragraphs because his brain is always three misunderstandings ahead of reality. The rumor chain moment is also brilliant dialogue design. Xu Xiao blurts out "no wonder you could bite someone's lips till they bled and even collapse the bed" and then the entire room goes silent because EVEN HE doesn't know how that came out of his mouth. That is how you write accidental comedy—making the character themselves horrified by what they just said.
