The fact that she had to borrow Huo Zhixing's arm to do it because her ankle was too weak? That's both a plot device AND a relationship beat. Two birds, one stone. The only thing I'd critique is that Liu Laizi's reveal got cut off mid-chapter. I know it's batch 4 and we only got so far, but that cliffhanger on a comedic character feels slightly cheap. Still, the overall plot momentum in these chapters is FIERCE.
The atmosphere in this batch is absolutely cinematic and I need to talk about the sensory details because the author really knows how to paint a scene. Let me start with the desert sequence. Xu Songhe following footprints through sand that's actively trying to erase them—that's such a haunting image. The vast stretches of "sandy, yellowish earth" with sparse trees, the unidentifiable insects buzzing around, her curling into a ball protecting a severed arm like it's a precious possession. This is the kind of scene that stays with you because it's so viscerally uncomfortable. You can feel the sand, the bugs, the cold. Then there's the moonlit encounter where the female ghost attacks. The description of the firelight illuminating their surroundings, then the cloying powdery sweetness mixed with rotting wood—that smell detail is genius. It's the kind of sensory detail that makes you physically recoil. And then the darkness rushing back in when the fire dies, followed by the pale clawed hand shooting out of the shadows. I literally gasped. The campfire scene afterward is deceptively simple but so effective. Just two figures in the dark, one of them pretending to sleep, the other staring at the flames. The warmth versus the chill, the temporary safety that feels fragile. And then the system going dead silent at the most critical moment—"the sound of short-circuiting static"—is such a perfect detail for a tech-meets-magic world. Every location feels alive and dangerous. This isn't just a backdrop, it's a character itself.
The novel was already great. The author really worked hard on creating this novel. The flow of the story was very natural.
one of the greatest story i have read and the only real problem I get is that you should make casual conversation less dramatic to make it look more real sometimes conversation seems forced

Not what I was expecting, definitely worth the read. Well balanced between making me laugh and making me think. Relatable storyline with a slow build but good plot twists which has me waiting for the next chapters !
