The pacing in this batch is absolutely relentless and I am here for it. Chapter 34 opens with Wei Chengyi's internal turmoil — that inexplicable irritation, the magnolia scent, the deliberate distance his sister-in-law is creating. It's quiet, almost suffocating. Then BAM — he's kowtowing, bleeding, confessing. The emotional intensity ramps up so fast you don't see it coming. And then Chapter 11 — "Severing Ties" — the title alone tells you what's coming. The chapter starts with that oppressive weather description, then Shen Shiyu and Shen Wenyuan appear like ghosts from the past. The confrontation escalates scene by scene: first the polite coldness, then the demands, then the father's cruel justification, and finally — the sickle. The author doesn't rush this. They let the tension build through dialogue, through Shen Lingyi's increasingly desolate questions, until that final slash feels both shocking and completely inevitable. Then Lu Yunqi appears right after, offering a moment of breathing room — and dropping the silk handkerchief clue about the capital. Perfect structural choice. Just when you're emotionally drained, the plot moves forward again. The chapter ends with both Wei Chengyi and Shen Lingyi heading toward the capital, setting up the next arc. No drag, no filler — every scene pushes either character development or plot forward.
Okay so let me just say this plot move was *chef's kiss*. Qin Xiaoran walks into her own home, finds the token is already gone, and instead of panicking, she immediately pivots to the letters. That's not just smart—that's the kind of protagonist who actually *thinks* before acting. Most rebirth novels would have her either crying or raging, but nope, she's already three steps ahead. And then the engagement reveal! The grandfather's letter, the Huo family's reply, the whole setup—it's classic but it works because the emotional weight is there. She's not just using this for power; she actually *grieves* the fiancé she never had. That moment when she looks at the photo of ten-year-old Huo Nianping and thinks about how fifteen years ago she chose him and fifteen years later she still would have—"astonished, and full of regret"—that's the kind of line that makes you put the book down and just stare at the ceiling. The scumbag father's reaction is also perfectly written. Wang Wenbin goes from smug to desperate to greedy in about three paragraphs. He sees the engagement as his ticket to promotion and glory, and you can literally watch him calculate every angle. The fact that he promises to find the token while having already sold everything? That's not optimism—that's delusion, and the author knows it. We're all waiting for that moment when he realizes he's been played. Also, the treasure hunt subplot is a nice touch. Ten gold bars hidden in a dog hole she used to play in as a child? That's the kind of detail that makes the world feel lived-in. Her grandfather was clearly preparing for exactly this kind of betrayal, and Qin Xiaoran remembering it from her past life shows how much she's grown. The pacing here is tight—no filler, every scene pushes the plot forward while also revealing character. I'm invested.
Let me just say this: the author knows how to paint a picture. The scene where the bus passes through the outer gate and Jiang Luokui sees those people—burn-like red patches on skin, sparse hair, swollen limbs, no protective suits—wasn't just worldbuilding, it was a physical punch to the gut. "Most had grown up in the inner districts. Few had seen this." That's it. That's all the author wrote and I was already imagining the whole scene like a film shot. The contrast between the clean, filtered air inside the bus and the metallic smell seeping through the ventilation, the radiation grades displayed like some dystopian menu, the scaveners risking everything to smuggle in high-radiation items because they can't afford neutralizers. This world feels SO alive. And the teachers' experimental fields! The mutated cucumber vine with sharper thorns, the soybean that lost all its leaves except one purple flower, the two seedlings that grew unusually tall with drooping serrated edges. These aren't just background details—they're the world telling you something is WRONG and nobody outside of Jiang Luokui seems to notice. The radiation purification on Plot 147 being temporary, the spiritual energy she has to constantly pour in, the fact that she's checking her account balance and only having 2,000 credits left. Every detail builds this incredibly coherent, suffocating, beautiful post-apocalyptic world. I could literally smell that metallic air.
The dialogue in these chapters is SO good and I need to talk about how the aunt and niece literally sound like the SAME PERSON. Like, Fu Xiujun and Gu Zhenxi have almost identical speech patterns — same complaints, same manipulation tactics, same entitlement. When Gu Zhenxi says "Aunt, you must help our family. You are the only one who can help us now" and then Fu Xiujun immediately follows with the same energy, it's like they're reading from the same script. And that's the point, right? They've been practicing this together. But then Fu Shiting's voice is completely different. She's measured, controlled, almost cold. "Big sister, this is all I have now. I'll lend it to you first." Five dollars and she's already done. She doesn't argue, she doesn't explain too much, she just gives them the money and sends them away. The contrast between her calm exterior and the fury underneath is incredible. And the dialogue after they leave? "I won't pay it back. What can you do to me?" — Fu Xiujun just says this OUT LOUD to her daughter. This woman has absolutely zero shame. The author doesn't need to describe her as a villain — she just lets her speak and the reader figures it out themselves.
I need to talk about the bracelet scene because my heart actually ached. He Zheng takes Wei Zhenye to a jewelry store—not to buy something expensive, but to weave a bracelet out of his own hair. Think about that. This is a man who grew up poor, who's spent his whole life being looked down on, and his idea of a meaningful gift is literally giving a piece of himself. The detail about how a year ago he filmed a scene at this store and forgot everything except that they could weave hair into bracelets? That's the kind of detail that shows He Zheng has been carrying this moment around for a full year, subconsciously saving it for Wei Zhenye. And Wei Zhenye's reaction—his face turning red, ears burning, pretending not to care—then posting it on Moments that night with the caption "Yeah, my boyfriend bought it"? I am NOT okay. The caption alone is such a Wei Zhenye move: understated on the surface but absolutely devastating in what it communicates. He's not shouting from the rooftops, but he's also not hiding it. And Yang Cheng's comment "You're not Wei Zhenye—you're Wei the Damn Dog" had me wheezing. But the emotional peak for me was honestly the car ride after the dinner. Wei Zhenye saying "I want you to go far, so there are some things you need to learn. So that one day, even if I'm not around, you can stand on your own. I just don't want to worry about someone bullying you." That's not just romance—that's a lifetime of devotion wrapped in one conversation. And He Zheng's response, that fleeting moment where "in the barren world of his twenty-eight years, a new emotion sprouted—an impulse to rely on someone"? I literally had to put the book down. This relationship isn't built on grand gestures, it's built on Wei Zhenye opening car doors, spinning tables to bring vegetables back to He Zheng, and learning to trust someone enough to let them see him flustered.
well I have written so many stories but your story is looking like a something new fresh fresh fruit because it is so nicely return that I am looking like it a fabulous work
Another novel from my favourite author. It's always fun to read the chapter and the way you put your thoughts in words, it makes the chapters interesting. Amber is definitely my favorite and I am looking forward to seeing how she works things out. Overall a must read book and trust me it's unique.
Can you please update it faster I want to read it regularly

Definitely a villain mc alright , dont really have any complaints , a very nice story you might wanna start increasing your production rate or else
i liked how the main character is actually trying to clear things up in a sort of realistic way. It felt like life was breathing through when reading in those moments.
