is there going to be a sequel to this book. I wanna know what happens to this new baby and what happens to Bethany and Levi.
Definitely a must read! Absolutely loved the story, it was engaging and detailed, and the character development was on point. Truly enjoyed reading this book.

This book is not complete. Do not waste your time! Very annoying paying for all these chapters only to get to the end and there is no conclusion. What a rip off!! So frustrating. This whole app is a rip off. The stories drag on for years or they end with no conclusion. Ugh.

The setting in this novel is so vividly rendered that I felt like I was actually there. The hospital room with its white walls and the sound of doors opening and closing creates this claustrophobic atmosphere where all the family drama plays out in real time. I loved how the author described the military uniform of Mu Yunyao—the stern face, the cold glint in his sharp eyes. It immediately tells you everything about his character without needing exposition. And the Mu family home, though we haven't seen it yet, is already painted through dialogue and implication. They own a canned food factory, which places them in the upper-middle class of this era. The details about money—fifty yuan being such a significant amount that Mother Mu pulls it out casually—tell us about the economic world they inhabit. The lunchbox Shen Qingli brings is such a small detail, but it paints this picture of traditional Chinese family dynamics where food is love and apology. Zhou He An's ragged clothes compared to Shen Qingli's white dress and braid is a visual contrast that speaks volumes about class and favoritism. The hospital scene with the doctor examining Zhou Chengye's head after her car accident is tense and clinical, but it's also where the real emotional shifts happen. Every time a door opens, someone new enters with their own agenda, and the ward becomes this stage where family power dynamics are performed and contested. The author really understands how to use physical space to enhance the emotional stakes.
