I understand the need to have struggles for the mc but making him fail his cleaving his meridians after making one way for him to do it is crazy! Author makes mc struggle to much just to get one powerup. It makes you think that no matter what happens in the story with his talent he’l always be beneath what he should already beOther than the part about the mc having to struggle with every breath and no break the novel is fine. World building is great!

Let me just be clear about what Prince Heng did at that banquet, because people are going to sleep on how dangerous this character is. He pretends to misunderstand the Crown Prince. He says 'Elder Brother, do you disdain Father's white fox for being injured? Do you intend to hunt one larger than Father's?' On the surface this is just a silly brotherly exchange. But read it again. He's implying the Crown Prince thinks the Emperor's catch is inadequate. He's suggesting the Crown Prince wants to outdo the Emperor. He's planting a seed that the Crown Prince is ambitious beyond his station. And then when Prince Lin 'helps' by reframing it as patriotic blessing, Prince Heng is FURIOUS. The text literally says 'Prince Heng gritted his teeth in frustration. Was Prince Lin out of his mind? If the Crown Prince were brought down, wouldn't he have a chance too?' He wanted the Crown Prince to stumble, and Prince Lin just saved him. Prince Heng can't even yell at Prince Lin because he's the Crown Prince's ally now. He's trapped by his own brother's loyalty. Meanwhile Shen Lingshu is watching from a distance, holding her fruit wine cup, and she's the only one who actually understands what just happened. She thinks: 'From a distance, Shen Lingshu couldn't clearly see the expression on the Emperor's face, but judging from the congratulatory ministers just moments ago, she could sense that the Emperor was definitely displeased.' She knows the Emperor is mad. She knows Prince Heng tried to poison the well. She knows Prince Lin defused it. And she says NOTHING. The stakes here are literally life and death. One wrong word at this banquet and people get executed. And Shen Lingshu is just sitting there eating roasted meat, playing invisible, and somehow that's the smartest move in the room.
By far my favorite. I love Kyle waiting on Kenneth’s story. Though I also love Liam
