Not a bad book. However, at times it felt like the author copied and pasted from somewhere else. Some editing needs to be done because the author used first person and third person in the same sentence. Also, there was confusion with the son’s age and his mom’s pregnancy timeline at times.

The scene work in this chapter is honestly really vivid. Let me start with the hospital - the author does such a good job making it feel alive. You've got the bustling seventh floor, the operating room doors opening, family members surging forward. It's chaotic and real. And then Feng Zhan emerges from all that chaos looking like some kind of underworld king in a white coat. That contrast is chef's kiss. The description of him - 'eyebrows like slanted swords, eyes like cold stars' - it's a bit much but it works for establishing his aura. I also love the detail about the young nurses melting when he speaks. That's such a specific, relatable observation that makes the world feel authentic. Then there's Nie Fuyao's bedroom scene - the wardrobe full of summer clothes, the separate drawers for undergarments prepared by a female assistant. These small details tell us so much about how carefully she's being cared for, and also how controlled her new life is becoming. The wall pin scene is where the atmosphere really shifts though. The disinfectant scent, the cool pressure against her forehead, that moment of frozen intimacy - the author slows down time perfectly here. You can feel both characters' heartbeats accelerating. And then the whole pheromone explanation afterward? Genius. It takes this romantic moment and makes it almost scientific, which is very Feng Zhan. The variety show setting in Nanyang City with its 'picturesque Jiangnan town' description gives us a glimpse of where the next arc might take us. The world feels layered - celebrity culture, medical dynasties, online harassment, family secrets. It's a rich tapestry.
