I have read until Chapter 50. MC is an actual villain and truly shows absolutely no mercy. The current story features two "MCs" of the Murim dancing in the palms of the actual MC. It features a very exciting momentum and impressive pace. The increasingly world-building starts at around chapter 40+, which furthermore display the detrimental effect of the protagonist's action.10/10.100% recommended
The pacing in these chapters is deliberately slow, almost meditative, and I respect that. We start with a hospital scene - altitude sickness, medicine, discharge procedures - and instead of rushing through it, the author makes us ride that bicycle back to the compound with Lin Shuyao stealing glances at Lu Chengjing's back. Half an hour of silence, wind, rumbling wheels. It establishes the physical distance between them as well as the emotional distance. Then they arrive at the compound and the author slows it down even more - the sentry, the neighbors staring, the introduction of Bai Qiaolan, the tour of the courtyard, the grape trellis, the brick-and-tile houses. Every detail serves a purpose. The courtyard layout literally maps out the emotional geography: Lu Chengjing and Lin Shuyao on the east side, Bai Qiaolan on the west, separated by that open yard. When Lu Chengjing leaves and Bai Qiaolan follows with tea, the scene shifts from exterior to interior, from public to private, and the tension ramps up. The chapter ends on Bai Qiaolan's internal monologue about Lin Shuyao being 'insatiable and shameless' - a perfect cliffhanger that makes you want to keep reading. The author knows how to breathe.
Some warnings for those who want to start reading this novel.This novel is a direct continuation of the previous work with the same name. So talking directly about the aspects of this novel is a spoiler of the previous work. I will talk about the previous work.This is a very different novel from wuxia standards:The protagonist is weak and his advantage (cheat) only serves as support and does not bring much difference in his power.There are no clichés like face slap, arrogant young master, powerful master who knows everything, or powerful women falling in love with the protagonist.This is a story about a mortal who luckily has the opportunity to walk towards immortality. So the protagonist is average. He is a Jack of all trades, knows and use many things,but is not an expert on anything.This is one of the only novels I read that mine gave me the feeling of an average cultivator who manages to prevail through schemes, struggles and luck, cultivating higher and higher. It's not like the universe is helping him or some treasure or absurd solution falls from the sky to help the protagonist. So I highly recommend it.
There's some people out there giving this 5 star (without even reading) just because they're obsessed with sign-in novels. There's been at least 1 or 2 sign-in novel in every batch of trial reads for the last 4 months. This is beyond oversaturated. What's worse they're nearly always picked by the editor too. If not a sign-in novel, it's certainly going to be sign-in novel's genetic twin checking-in novel! As for this novel itself? Heh...I pity the fool who wastes his time on this.
Out of the many books I've started reading and dropped, or even keep on reading, this one has my captivated so early on in the story more so than any of the other ones so far. The quality of the writing is excellent, with not too many huge info dumps, and the info dumps are still easier to read through than most other stories. The character's haven't gotten a whole lot of time to let their colors fly yet, I believe, but a good picture is being painted of who they may potentially turn out to be. I hope the author is able to continue on with this story, and is able to maintain a sane state of mind once this book starts receiving the popularity it deserves.

Great bit of writing here and other the I also read a couple of this gathers other storys. It seems to be pretty consistant with writing quality. Overall a great book by a great Author.
It is a slow progression compared to the other face slapping, or OP MC novels.To think such thought and research went into this, I suspect Author is a taoist master.

This novel is legit amazing. Comedy, character development, fast pace. The only thing which would make this novel more amazing would be to no include a harem. SPOLIER - Currently the has a OP wife, if this were to turn into a harem you know their relationship development would become slow run of the mill novel relationship. If the MC were to stay loyal to his wife I just feel like the story would progress better
