There's this one moment — the very first handshake between Lu Jing and Lin Shen — that I think contains the entire emotional architecture of this chapter, maybe this whole relationship. 'He had held Lu Jing's hand just that noon, and now he stood before him in a different capacity, their hands clasped together. An indescribable feeling stirred within Lin Shen. Hmm… how should he put it? That handshake and embrace at noon felt almost like a secret affair. Secretive and alluring.' A handshake. That's all it is. But the way it's described — 'secretive and alluring' — transforms this mundane social gesture into something charged with meaning. It's about how two people can share a physical connection that looks completely normal to everyone else but feels like a secret language between just the two of them. The world sees a professional introduction. Lin Shen experiences something entirely different. And then there's the wine. The red wine soaking Lin Shen's white shirt, creating 'a mesmerizing blush.' The color red — passion, danger, desire — spreading across his clothing like a map of emotions he can't quite name. The playboys circling him, the vulgar comments, the physical proximity — it's all a performance, but Lu Jing's reaction is the real thing. The scene within the scene becomes a mirror for what's happening between them: everyone watching, everyone performing, but only two people who actually understand what's real. The forehead kiss at the end is another symbol — not a romantic kiss, not a passionate kiss, but something softer, almost protective. A gesture that says 'I care about you' without saying the words. In a story about actors who perform for a living, these small unguarded moments are the only things that feel truly authentic.
Can we just take a moment to appreciate how sharp the dialogue is in this book? Every conversation feels like a sword fight where both people are trying to cut each other down but also secretly respect the skill. The exchange between Jiang Zhaoxue and Aunt Sun is probably my favorite. Aunt Sun comes as the Dowager Consort's messenger, all polite threats and implicit pressure, and Jiang Zhaoxue just dismantles her in real time: "I heard you. But I am now the Princess Consort of Jing Prince. The person I am guarding is Jing Prince. He has not yet escaped danger, and you want me to go keep the Dowager Consort company and chat? What are we supposed to discuss? How many greeting gifts she plans to give me, or where the keys to the manor's treasury are kept?" Then when Aunt Sun tries to backpedal, Jiang Zhaoxue hits her with: "Then repeat them exactly as they are. I'm very busy. I don't have time to save anyone's dignity." CHILL. The woman has no filter and I love her for it. And Xiao Chenghuai's dialogue is perfectly calibrated — short, clipped, authoritative. He doesn't say more than he needs to. When he asks "What do you want?" after she saves him, it's not rude, it's just efficient. And his response to her terms — "For your matters, this prince only cares about the result. If you create a mess, this prince will handle it. If I cannot handle it, then it means you lack the ability." — that's a man who speaks in absolutes. The narrative voice itself is also really good. It's close third person, mostly anchored to Jiang Zhaoxue's perspective, and it has this dry, wry quality that matches her personality. The author doesn't over-describe or over-explain. Things just happen and the characters react. It's clean and confident writing.

I really liked it. Keep going. I have never seen such action and such rich events in 7 chapters in my entire life. The first 7 chapters are always boring, but perhaps these are the best first 7 chapters on the platform. Don't despair. Keep going.
