this book was amazing in my opinion. All the ups and downs were crazy. I couldn't even believe it when Blake got out then found out he had kids.
The pacing in these chapters is absolutely masterful. Let me walk you through it because the author really knows how to control the reader's heartbeat. Chapter 7 starts slow. Su Wanwan comes home, exhausted, feeds her husband, fans him, talks about eggs and chickens and how hot it is. It's domestic, it's quiet, it's almost meditative. Then Pei Yaozu shows up at dawn with this elaborate scheme to get close to Su Wanwan, and suddenly there's physical labor and comedy and a chamber pot subplot. The energy picks up but it's still contained, still in the household. Then Chapter 8 hits like a freight train. Pei's Eldest Aunt arrives. Wu Sanniang arrives. Zhou Chanyue arrives. Three antagonists in one scene, all with different motivations, all clashing with each other as much as with Su Wanwan. The Village Chief's neighbors start gathering outside. And it ends with Su Wanwan crying while clinging to Wu Sanniang's leg, accusing her of wanting the meat that was saved for Changfeng. The chapter just... escalates. There's no breathing room. You go from a quiet morning fan scene to a full-blown family brawl in the span of two chapters, and the author never lets you settle. What's clever is that the pacing isn't just about action—it's about information. We learn about Zhou Chanyue's failed reputation plot, we learn about Wu Sanniang's greed for the government subsidy, we learn about Pei Yaozu's dual agenda, and we learn about the history between Pei's Eldest Aunt and Wu Sanniang. All of this exposition is delivered through conflict, not narration. The story moves forward because people are fighting, not because the narrator is explaining things. That's tight pacing.

Well, I certainly can't say I am disappointed (although I really am). This story should be yanked, edited with corrections, then reposted. Grammar is awful, especially use of gender pronouns. :-(
