I need to talk about how fast this thing moves because wow. Chapter 1 starts with Mianmian waking up tied up, she befriends a cat, outsmarts a trafficker with peanut candy, calls the police, gets rescued by her brother, and by the end of the chapter she's already heading home. That is an insane amount of plot for one chapter and I was completely hooked. Chapter 2 immediately pivots to the family drama. Qin Yunchuan dealing with the kidnappers, Mianmian getting cleaned up and introduced to Gu Xu, and then—BAM—Second Aunt Qin and Qin Tongtong showing up like villains in a soap opera. The transition from the police station call to the mansion confrontation is seamless. No filler, no waiting around. The author just keeps pushing forward. What I really appreciate is how the tension builds. Mianmian is safe, right? She's home, she's warm, she's eating rice like a little champion. And then Second Aunt Qin starts picking on her. The dining room scene goes from warm and funny (Gu Xu pinching her cheek, her stomach growling) to suddenly suffocating. That shift is so well done. One moment you're laughing at Mianmian calling the ground a crack so she can hide her embarrassment, and the next you're furious on her behalf. The chapter ends on a cliffhanger with Second Aunt Qin about to explode and Qin Yunchuan still at the police station. I immediately wanted to read the next chapter. This author knows exactly how to keep you turning pages.
