Descriptive novels is a quality novel but this novel while beginning is done really well I gets a bit over board as plot progressed. While the mc seems full with emotions and personality, it is really empty as mc seems to be a programmed robot with each decisions and actions done without any real thought.Also different perspective being jumbled without any structure and flow, felt like reading this and that jumping between back and forth...Is like watwatching a movie made with best visual technology and plot but without colour and sound at the same time with random rewinding and forwarding.
Can we just appreciate how efficiently Zhan Rong Xuan speaks? The man says so little but each line carries weight. When Xu Yueyao asks if the assassin is dead for sure, his response is just: "Are you doubting me?" Cold. Dismissive. Perfect. He doesn't explain himself, he doesn't soften his words. That's the villain energy right there. And Xu Yueyao's internal monologue? Hilarious. She's constantly cursing the author in her head. "Damn it, couldn't they have arrived just a little earlier?" After literally saving his life, she's mad the backup didn't show up sooner so she wouldn't have gotten shot. That's such a relatable, human reaction. She's not a hero—she's a girl who got pulled into a book and is just trying to navigate it. The dialogue between Zhang Beilu and Xu Yueyao at the beginning also establishes their relationship quickly. Zhang Beilu is pragmatic, telling Yaoyao to play along because they have no power. It's a glimpse into how these women survive in this world—by bending when they have to. But then Xu Yueyao refuses. She walks out. That single act of defiance tells you everything about who she is now. One line that stuck with me: "I'll let you go, but don't make a sound, or I'll kill you." Classic villain entrance. But then he releases her when she stays quiet, and there's this weird moment of tension where she's lying there thinking about how handsome he is while also being terrified. The author balances humor and danger really well in the dialogue.
Enjoyable read, but gets very repetitive very fast, starts out good, but for gods sake do we need one whole chapter to go through every boss in every dungeon (2-5 bosses or so in a dungeon) and what the mc does in said dungeons is the same thing he does with every other dungeon, explain boss' abilities, slowly throughout the course of the chapter whittling down the boss' hp, and commanding his team, and oh look you got wiped and its the end of the chapter, wait till next chapter to find out if he clears it this time haha...overall,Translation quality and stability is good, but the repetitive ass plot is so damn boring. Still a decent way to pass time tho :P
