Meanwhile Lin Shen gets the third male lead through a grueling audition process. The author is setting up this delicious dramatic irony where the 'successful' actor turns down the opportunity and the 'nobody' seizes his. I keep waiting for these storylines to collide. The Jin Yucheng subplot is also doing heavy lifting. First he throws his weight around on set, then deliberately splashes hot coffee on Lin Shen, and the whole thing gets exposed online. It's a classic 'villain defeats himself' moment but executed cleanly. What I love is how the author doesn't make Lin Shen fight back — he just endures it silently, and the universe rewards him anyway. That's a specific kind of wish-fulfillment fantasy that hits differently.

While a familiar start of betrayal and rebirth, the story and characters make this a fantastic and unique read. I love the world building, slowly filling in and expanding, not like some that Info dump. Each character feels like a real person with their own quirks. I'd highly recommend.
