Don’t think it was written in English originally. Kind of hard to follow as a native English speaker and it felt like some keys points were missing to explain things as the story progressed. Lead to a lot of confusion as I went
Xin Ling's inner voice is absolutely perfect. When Tang Yue is laying into her about throwing tantrums and shifting blame, Xin Ling's internal response is just 'Huh? Shifting the blame onto me?' and later 'Go on, go on. Best if you run into that demon who randomly assaults people and get beaten up badly!' The deadpan sarcasm is lethal. And then there's the system's delivery — '【Ding! Side Mission Triggered: Please wear revealing clothes tonight to deliver coffee to Male Lead Ouyang Shaojing. Take advantage of the situation.】' followed by her reaction: '…… ꒦ິ^꒦ິ It was her fault. She never should've gloated… Wuwuwu.' The emoji usage, the whining, the self-blame for something completely unjust — it's so authentically her. Cen Yuyan's dialogue is deceptively simple and warm on the surface ('You haven't eaten yet?' 'I'd like to invite you to come and try them with me') but the narration underneath constantly undercuts it with his true demonic nature. And Ouyang Shaojing's lines are perfectly cold and dismissive — 'The two of us will be fine' when Tang Yue asks if Xin Ling can come. Every character has a distinct voice and the narrative commentary is sharp enough to make you laugh out loud.
