A supernatural illness diagnosed by the Kanshi Xiansheng when Xue Jingyao was ten years old. It caused a year-long unbreakable fever and constant delirium. Ordinary medicine was useless against it. The Chongxi ritual was the prescribed remedy to dispel the evil spirits causing this affliction.
