Zhu Ganglie, referred to as Old Zhu, was a former colleague of Sixth Master Chen who recently died. He had accumulated wealth including a jade Buddha, ten gold ingots, twenty solid gold ornaments, and silver notes sewn into his clothes. He also kept a hidden ledger recording sales of eight- and six-zhang xuan paper to Anyang Prefecture and dealings with temple lords at Baochan Temple, which served as his ultimate insurance policy.
