Also known as Madam He, she was the favored concubine of Chen Fu and the mother of He Xianjin. She was delicate, frail, often ill, and described as a battle-hardened and fierce concubine who managed to remarry and bring her child from a previous marriage into the Chen household. She had been bedridden for years before her death. She was buried with a piece of Hetian jade worth fifty taels of silver. The memorial tablet before her coffin read: In memory of my wife, He Ai. Her death was triggered or accelerated by the original He Xianjin's drowning.
