Also known as Grandpa Zhang. A veteran Red Army soldier from the war of resistance who lost an arm. His identity and benefits were restored by the 132nd Military District, and he was awarded the title of Hero of the People. He raised his three grandchildren—Da Miao, Ermiao, and Goudan—after his son died drowning while fishing. He received twenty-some years of back pay and a future pension. He supervised mushroom cultivation at the farm and built a new house with villagers' help.
