The second son of Xu Ren and Wang Zhen, and an uncle of Xu Nian. He is described as an honest and simple man who stayed home to work the land because the family could only afford to educate one son. He eats heartily at family meals, unaware of his mother's resentment towards him compared to his sister Xu Nian.
