The current head of the Xie family and Xie Qi's father. He beats Xie Qi with the Da Wang Bian (king-hitting whip) in a dream/flashback scene for wanting to marry Yu Zhao, a daughter of a criminal official. He relies on his daughter Zhi'er's favor in the palace to maintain the Xie family's power. He is described as having declining health and being accused by his son of being mediocre and living off female relatives' nepotism rather than the family's original martial glory.
