A mysterious desert dweller who appears to be the true leader of the Red Scorpions, despite claiming to be merely a messenger. His previous leader was executed for taking the wrong contract and endangering the Red Scorpions, which Ruth suspects was orchestrated by the boy. He refuses to tell Ruth his name, citing desert tradition that telling one's name is like a marriage proposal. He finds Ruth intriguing because Ruth did not curse Lyman, unlike another friend of Ruth's. He says they will meet again someday.
