Antagonist. Su Niannian's stepmother, a widow from a neighboring village who married Su Heping less than two months after Su Niannian's mother died. She has a son Li Junlang from her previous marriage and later gave birth to a son and daughter (Wenxue and Wenli). Outwardly she played the role of a dutiful wife and loving mother flawlessly, but at home she treated Su Niannian like a servant, beating her with a rattan stick whenever displeased, hitting only covered areas to avoid detection. She schemed to force Su Niannian to take Li Junlang's place going to the countryside, planned to sell Su Niannian's factory job, intercepted her college acceptance letter, drugged her and brought a thug to assault her, and paid the thug 100 yuan to keep Su Niannian imprisoned.
