Also referred to as Xin-lang in Pei Ba Niang's dialogue. He was the sole offspring of Third Master and Third Madam, and Sang Wu's deceased husband. He secretly went out with several cousins to suppress bandits in order to earn an official title so he could marry Sang Wu with greater prestige. He never returned from that journey and died. His death was a thunderbolt to his parents. Sang Wu notes that he did not have the cold, sharp eyes that Pei Silang possesses.
