Niu Ergou is a village rascal who attempted to assault Lin Nanxiang on the hillside. He was described as eager and clumsy, grabbing her by the foot when she tried to run. He struck her across the face and threatened her, but Lin Nanxiang fought back with a stone, then knocked him unconscious with a stick. After he fell down the slope naked, he was later found stripped and lying at the foot of the mountain acting indecently, causing a commotion among villagers. Niu Ergou was part of a plot with Liu Dahua to trap Lin Nanxiang, but he disappeared during the confrontation, leaving Liu Dahua unable to find him. His actions were predatory and violent, and he served as the initial threat that triggered Lin Nanxiang's transmigration and self-defense.
