Lin Zhuer is the female lead of the novel within the story, and Lin Erxia's cousin. She is the daughter of Lin Yongfeng and Sun Xiaoyun, and lives in the west courtyard with Grandpa Lin Dayong's family. Unlike Lin Erxia, Lin Zhuer is gentle, well-behaved, and academically excellent. She has a round, plump face, big bright eyes, a small delicate nose, and fair skin that even surpasses her mother's. Her temperament is quiet and refined, and she rarely comes out of her room. She was allowed to attend high school despite Lin Erxia also passing the entrance exam, because her grades were better. In the original novel plot, Lin Zhuer marries a high-ranking military officer, has twins, attends university after the college entrance exam resumes, and builds a successful business during economic reforms, enjoying a harmonious family life. She serves as a stark contrast to Lin Erxia, highlighting the favoritism shown by the Lin family.
