Supporting character, also known as He Xiaocao after changing back to her original surname. She was sold to the Hu family as a child bride before age ten. Rescued and helped by Tan Heng and others, she gained a job using compensation from Hu Youwei and obtained official Shanghai residency. She appeared nervous, in her early thirties but looked older, wearing patched clothes.
