Cheng Jin Nian's mother, who passed away in the spring of 1988 from tuberculosis at the age of 36. She was known throughout Dagou Village as a beautiful, vibrant, virtuous, and capable girl. She married Cheng Haijun in 1970 during the Down to the Countryside Movement when she was 18. On her deathbed, she told Nian Nian to go to Zhushi to find his father and live a good life. She was not close to her own father throughout her life.
