The protagonist, an 18-year-old male in January 1992. He is the son of Du Hongxia and Cheng Haijun. Gentle, mild-mannered, meticulous, and caring. He has a small head and wore a woolen hat knitted by his mother when he was 13. He is academically gifted but from a poor rural background. Song Hao has been supporting him and paying his tuition fees since 1988. He calls Song Hao 'Da Song' and is deeply attached to him. He accompanied Song Hao to Zhushi in 1988 at age 14.
