A cowardly official who took over northern defense after Duke Zongze fell ill. He lost vast territories and even considered digging up the Yellow River levee to use water as a substitute for soldiers. After Zhao Fei entered Bianjing, she had him arrested and imprisoned. He poisoned himself to death in the government office before he could be executed. Naive Confucian scholars mourned his death.
