Adiba Jenin is the Empress of Karileum and Ail's mother. Now entering middle age, she still retains much of her beauty but carries a shadow over her features since being abandoned by the Emperor and her family's fall from grace. She was once the Emperor's favorite before Tasha became a concubine. Adiba is politically ambitious and has never been able to develop affection for her son Nathan due to his chilling demeanor. She suddenly began interfering in Ail's affairs as he transitions to regency, attempting to reassert her status by managing his concubines and harem. She is attached to her niece Erita, who was supposed to become Crown Princess, and resents the broken engagement plans. She despises Salina's ambition and worries Salina might overshadow her.
