First you get the jealousy subplot with the milk bottle, then the dance club incident where he basically tackles her into his arms, and then he gets SO jealous over a freshman bringing milk that he throws it away and then pretends he doesn't care. The plot is building this tension like a spring being wound tighter and tighter. And that moment when he says "I threw it away"—that's not just jealousy, that's him realizing he's already claimed her in his head. The author doesn't spell it out, which is why it hits so hard. Every plot beat in this section feeds into the central question: when does this tutoring arrangement stop being transactional? Xia Chu keeps talking about her hundred thousand yuan like it's the most important thing, but every scene undercuts that. She's the one initiating physical contact, she's the one laughing at his jealousy, she's the one who says "I also have a gift for you today" with this mysterious smile. The plot isn't just moving forward—it's circling back on itself, showing us that neither of these people is as in control as they pretend to be. And honestly? That's what makes it so addictive to read.
I completely find that I love Moonlight Muse’s books. I started by reading My Cold Hearted Alpha and became hooked, I’m now going back to read all the books in the series. But this one here took my breath away had a hard time waiting for updates. Kept wishing I could find it somewhere and buy it.
