I need to talk about how cinematic this whole scene is because the author really knows how to paint a picture. It starts with Jiang Jinshu calmly drinking tea while Shen Nanyue storms in with her maids and older servants in tow—this visual contrast of stillness versus chaos immediately tells you who's really in control. Then the setting of Yayun Ju becomes this battlefield. The way the courtyard fills up, the standoff between the two groups of servants, the teapot and cups being hurled—every beat has this vivid visual quality. And then the stripping scene. Shen Nanyue left in only her undergarments, hair disheveled after the hairpin is yanked out, shrieking in rage. That image is so powerful and humiliating, and it's the ultimate reversal of power. You can just see it. The detail about the fabric and hairpin coming from Jiang Jinshu's dowry is such a nice touch too—it grounds the scene in the material reality of this world, where wealth and possessions are weapons. And the reward scene at the end, with Caiping fetching silver and the maids lining up to collect it, creates this almost transactional atmosphere that really emphasizes how money runs everything in this household. The whole sequence feels like a well-choreographed scene from a period drama. Every detail serves the story.
Can we talk about the peanut soup?? I know this sounds ridiculous but this one detail destroyed me. Chu Nanyu remembers she wants peanut soup 'not too sweet' — and he goes out of his way to get it from Auntie Liang the next morning. While Lu Yanzhi is standing there watching his wife smile at another man while eating soup that man arranged for her. The emotional violence of a romantic gesture performed by the wrong person is something else entirely. But here's what really got me — Tan Qinyin's moment when she asks 'Husband, can you carry me?' She says it almost involuntarily, like a phrase her body remembers even when her mind doesn't. And Chu Nanyu just... does it. Proper gentleman hold, 'hold on tight,' that crisp voice with a hint of gentleness. Meanwhile Lu Yanzhi is standing there watching the man he presumably has history with cradling his wife like she's something precious. The text says 'an invisible hand were squeezing his heart, making his breathing heavy and labored.' That's Lu Yanzhi. That's him right there, physically unable to look away from the man holding the woman he loves. And then — AND THEN — Tan Qinyin wants to WRITE Chu Nanyu into her novel. 'The Iceberg Husband Keeps Getting Teased into a Smile.' She's literally going to turn this real-life romantic tension into fiction while the real husband watches from the sidelines. I couldn't breathe. But the most heartbreaking moment for me was actually quieter. When Tan Qinyin says 'I don't really remember you. Do we know each other?' to Lu Yanzhi. She's so polite about it, so gentle. She's not trying to hurt him, she genuinely doesn't know who he is. And Lu Yanzhi? He just stays composed. 'Yinyin, we are—' and Tan Yan has to save him by saying 'he's my friend.' The real husband gets reduced to 'friend' in front of his own wife. I'm not okay.
I need to talk about Shen Xiuzhen because this woman is carrying SO MUCH and I love her for it. The most heartbreaking detail in this entire chapter isn't even the big dramatic stuff — it's when she picks up that ten-cent coin from the ground after Wang Xiaoqin throws it at her. Think about it. Someone just insulted her, tried to cheat her, and threw money like she's nothing. And her reaction? She bends down, picks it up, and gives proper change. No drama, no anger, just... routine. The narration tells us straight: 'In her past life, she and Song Shulin had endured all kinds of hardships. Picking up money from the ground was nothing to fuss over.' Nothing to fuss over. She's survived worse than this and this is just Tuesday for her. But here's what really gets me — the way she handles Auntie Zhou. When Auntie Zhou apologizes for the whole Wang Xiaoqin situation, Shen Xiuzhen genuinely says 'It's fine, really!' And she means it. She's not performing gratitude, she's not being fake. She actually understands that doing business means dealing with difficult people. That's not naive — that's someone who has been burned before and chose kindness anyway. And the way she rewards Auntie Zhou! Pulling out two dimes and firmly pressing them into the older woman's palm, insisting she buy a soda. She notices kindness and she repays it immediately. That's a person who knows what it means to be helped and doesn't take it for granted. The couple dynamic is also quietly beautiful. They exchange a glance when Auntie Zhou leaves to round up more customers — no words needed. Years of partnership in one look. They're a team, and it shows in how they move through the world together.
I just read the first five chapters and it's damn good.....can't wait to see how it goesgood job as always ? ?
This arc is giving me classic early 2000s anime vibes—the ones that scarred you for life but you couldn’t stop watching. Souless is giving me that same feeling.
A thrilling novel full of mystery. I've read the first two chapters, and I'm already eager for more. While the descriptions are somewhat weak, the strong dialogues and smooth flow of events more than make up for it.
Pretty good! I just kinda stumbled along this, not been on the site for long but I like eating up webnovels like this. A little interesting, definitely a bit better written than some other webnovels I’ve seen. I like the characters already. A bit heavy handed on the smut off the bat, you could probably make a decent pornographic short story with that kinda stuff (lol). All in all, I do like it. Setting is your classic fantasy setting. Humans are numerous and racist (as they should be). MC is half-beast instead of full human. I smell a harem coming on, though I would prefer it small if only to save the author a headache in the future to try to remember all the characters they’d make. In some stories, there’s so many characters that they all feel one dimensional. It’s best to flesh out few main characters than millions.Looking forwards to see where this goes.
story is peak, I expect 50 more chapters by tomorrow !!!!
its my first original works so there is a lot mistake, by far I tried to do my best using my limites knowledge of proper grammar and english so be sure to point out when I do make mistake, the beginning will be slow and I am planning to make it slow, I will take it slow as to get you guys to grow together with Silver as he make his path towards his conquest and creating his own book of legend
