I want to talk about how this passage moves because honestly it's a masterclass in how to handle a chapter that could easily drag. We open with Wang Erya's subplot—her foster mother taking her money and supplies. It's a quick beat, maybe two paragraphs, and then we're gone. No lingering, no moralizing. The author trusts us to understand the power dynamic and move on. Then Shengxia heads to the Second Young Master's quarters with the white almond cakes, and suddenly we're in this whole new scene that unfolds at a completely different pace. The teaching sequence has its own rhythm—Pengmo struggling, the Young Master getting frustrated, the comedic beat where Pengmo tries to use Shengxia's arrival as an escape, and then the pivot where Shengxia becomes the student. It's funny, then tender, then serious, then back to funny when Pengmo bolts. The chapter doesn't sit in one emotional register for long. What really controls the pacing though is the ending. After all that warmth and momentum, Shengxia steps outside and immediately runs into Pengmo, who turns out to be totally fine about it. Then she goes to find Jinzhu, and the chapter ends on a note of cautious hope rather than drama or conflict. It's a quiet close, and I think that's deliberate—the chapter isn't building toward a cliffhanger, it's building toward a transformation. Shengxia is leaving this chapter different from how she entered it. She has a book, supplies, a teacher, and a path forward. The pacing serves her arc perfectly.
Okay so the pacing here is actually really smart and I want to break down why. Chapter 1 does the heavy lifting of worldbuilding and backstory but it never drags because Su Yin's voice is so sharp. She wakes up, processes the horror of the original host's life, and immediately starts taking action. No wallowing. No "why me" moments. She sees the bruises, she notes the system's limitations, she tests her rabbit form, she poisons her brother's food, she starts a livestream. By the end of chapter 1 she's already established her plan and taken her first steps. That's efficient storytelling. Chapter 2 shifts gears into the gaming subplot, which could have been filler but isn't. Yue Li's humiliation is funny, yes, but it also does something important: it gives Su Yin an income source and a potential ally. The system's ability to manipulate matchmaking is a clever plot device that opens up future possibilities. And then the chapter pivots back to the family drama with Su Yin refusing to cook lunch—small rebellion, but it escalates naturally. Chapter 3 is where the pacing really shines. The confrontation with Su Yongyuan builds from verbal sparring to physical violence in a way that feels earned. Su Yin's strategy of dodging, then deliberately faking injury, then triggering her father's wolf transformation—all of it unfolds in real time with clear cause and effect. The chapter ends on a cliffhanger (Wang Zhiying checking Su Yin's breath, something is wrong) that makes you immediately click to the next chapter. What I appreciate most is that the author never lets the domestic drama become monotonous. Just when you think it's going to be another scene of Su Yin getting abused, she flips the script. The gaming subplot provides relief. The system's commentary provides humor. The revelations about the mother's death provide emotional weight. The story moves in waves—tension, release, tension, release—and I'm hooked.
good novel overall, a new system that i have never seen before, The main character knows what he wants and what he is doing. only one bad guy showed up so far and he is not a brainless fool, absolutely love the female characters the only bad thing i can talk about is the grammars otherwise this is a 5/5.
It is still early but the idea is great. Looking forward to the character development.
This is a good novel if you're looking for a read. The author is quite good at writing and the update rate is consistent as well, considering that he just began writing. The story development is good, but the biggest question is when will the MC turn into a teenager, he's literally only 11 years old! Don't get me wrong, a young mc isn't bad, but my fair share is 13 and 14.The character design is also something to talk about, the characters are well portrayed and we see the MC has loving parents and there are also a good amount of other characters. As I've said this is a good bookNow, the world background.I get that he's just a child, but the fact that he doesn't concern himself with even a little of the politics of the elven kingdom is unreal. Then the world also isn't explored, there isn't much known about it. That being said he's about to go to the academy, meaning that they are obviously going to learn about the world. In short, Writing quality: 5Stability of updates: 5Story development: 5Character design: 5 (especially his mother)World background: 3It's a good book to readBut as of what I've read, MC is practically invincible. On a side note, not relevant, I want pancakes, not waffle
Hi, I'm a huge fan of your work! I recently finished reading your book and was thoroughly impressed. I'd love to offer some suggestions on how to further boost your book's success and reach an even wider audience. Would you be open to hearing my ideas?
I love how the system is made, it's clear and not confusing. Ash's journey is exciting, and I'm looking forward to where it takes him. The story is beautifully written, and every word is easy to understand. Good job, author.
okay I love a good revenge plot and I Can't wait for our MC to end her enemies literally ☺️ I will enjoy this revenge!
A very cozy read with some comedy in it but overall it has potential and uniqueness to it, I'm rooting for you to win WSA 2025!
One thing I would point out is that it's so simple yet easy to understand the world building that gradually happens, and how the plot manifests itself through the MC's actions and choices. Although there is very much room for improvement with as good as it is, it was definitely quite the enjoyable read.Keep it up, mate
I don't want to be a dickhead so I will give 4 stars, but genuinely i don't want to give that much but it's your first novel so i gave that much to motivate you here are some of my suggestions 1- Improve the synopsis, it's bad I mean really bad, at first after reading the synopsis I don't feel any attraction or interest to go and read2) Some things are confusing in Chapters you should mention thoughts and speak aloud abbreviations 3) And some mistakes like in the first chapter you didn't mention what race did the goddess suggest, If it's a mystery you should mention it that is, I hope you can take this positively
The book is worth reading, readers you will like it.
