Let's talk stakes because they just went THROUGH THE ROOF. On the surface, the Su family's conflicts seem small—villagers being nosy, fishing nets breaking, needing an excuse for their sudden wealth. These are manageable, almost cozy problems. But the author is quietly stacking real danger on top of them. The Liu family subplot is where the stakes become life-and-death. Liu Wentao already tried to kill his own children. He's a man who sees daughters as humiliation and wild boars as status symbols. If he discovers that the Su family's lucky child is actually HIS abandoned baby—a baby with a golden lotus mark, the kind of sign that in this world could mean the difference between being revered and being owned—what will he do? He's already considering taking the child back because it might improve his standing. Think about that. He threw the baby away, and now he wants her back because she's useful. This isn't a father wanting his daughter. This is a man wanting a lucky charm with a pulse. And the villagers? They're already circling. They want to hold Su Muyao, to touch her, to get close to her luck. Old Man Su is protective, but he can't guard her forever. The village chief has been won over, but what happens when the chief learns the child might belong to the Liu family? Politics in these villages are messy. The fishing scene adds another layer—those giant fish are attracting attention. The whole village is now at the river. Everyone is watching the Su family. The spotlight is getting brighter, and with it, the danger. I'm not even worried about whether Su Muyao will be taken back. I'm worried about what happens when Liu Wentao realizes she's not just any lucky child—she's the one who commands wolves. That changes the power dynamic entirely.
Okay so let me just say this: the elevator scene is NOT just a dramatic set piece. It's a FULL PLOT TURNING POINT. Someone deliberately trapped Wen Yunsheng in that elevator. Qin Jiawei was caught on surveillance footage. And get this—Qin Yanchuan immediately shuts down the Qimu Club, which is managed by his SECOND UNCLE. This isn't just about protecting his girl, this is a power move. He's drawing a line in the sand and saying 'my family's business is NOT above the law when it comes to hurting people.' The plot thickens because now we know there's an active antagonist within the family structure, not just some random bad guy. Qin Jiawei isn't just a petty rival—she's willing to endanger someone's life. And the fact that the manager didn't dare confess? That tells you everything about the power dynamics at play. I'm also obsessed with how the author layers in backstory—Wen Yunsheng's childhood trauma in the storage room at age five, the fact that she left for abroad secretly three months after their breakup, the blind date with Song Ye that she clearly didn't want. All of these threads are being pulled tight right now. The narrative is building toward something big, and I have a feeling the elevator incident is just the tip of the iceberg.
"Ah, my child, my child. Brother Ziheng, save our child!" — I literally fell out of my chair. Yang Tiehua winking at Fu Ziheng while screaming about her unborn baby while clutching her stomach and crying real tears because she's actually a good actress? This woman is a menace and I love her. But the dialogue in this chapter is just consistently excellent across the board. Let me just dump some of my favorite lines because I can't pick one. Old Shen threatening Yang Tiechui: "You can't report it! My uncle is a deputy factory director." And Yang Tiechui's response? He deliberately PAUSES to let the threat sink in, watches Old Shen's face turn purple, and THEN drops the mic: "My uncle is the factory director, the real boss! In front of my uncle, your lousy deputy director uncle isn't even fit to carry his shoes!" The pacing of that dialogue is PERFECT. You can literally hear the cadence. The author knows exactly how to make a comeback land. Then there's the hospital scene where Yang Tiechui drags the doctor in by one shoe. "Check my sister first. The shoe doesn't matter." The doctor's resigned expression? The fact that he just accepts this chaos and says "take another painkiller"? That's comedy gold written with zero effort. And Fu Ziheng's line — "Tiehua, if you regret it, I can agree to a divorce. I won't hold you back" — delivered so softly, so genuinely. The contrast between his gentle voice and the dramatic wailing of the rest of the family is just chef's kiss. Every character has a distinct voice. The father is rough but soft. The brother is loud and impulsive. Fu Ziheng is quiet and restrained. Even Old Shen's threats feel different from the villagers' reactions. Nobody sounds the same. That's rare.
Honestly the best book I've read in years, it's so meaningful and unique at the same time.
I'm still on Chapter 10. But I saw the author's announcement, so decided to write a review so we can have more chapters because I'm afraid of getting cliffhanged! Fighting!
this turned out to be way more interesting than I initially thought. The way narrative flowed made me immersed. I highly recommend this hidden gem.
First lets's talk about your writing format, it's incredible.quick question why did you remove the other book? Taken by my boss?i was reading it fr?i was expecting this book to flop, but I don't think it would.like when it got to the point were Dawson asked her to be his contract wife i was expecting ?? her to accept it and Enzo will end up letting her go, but you shocked me with the plot twists, the plot twists are incredible, i believe this story is rated 18 because the darkness in it,is enough to consume, if I was to give this a proper rating i will give it 100/10most stories on webnovel become boring after the first 5 chapters.they either flop or have unnecessary contents.I'm requesting, please update more chapters, am already a loyal fan of yours.
it's traditional to give your work a 5 star review. Like the saying goes," Even if no one does, you must "
The mc is hella stubborn, doesnt realize what he is doing sometimes, literally almost dies and he just shruggs it off like nothing happened, cursed necklace latches on to his girlfriend and someone he loves, straight up doesnt care? Dafuq
Oh look what we have here. An interesting novel. Although the summary may be similar to the rest of the novels, the events are different. We have a novel that has a prequel. Good luck to you and keep up your work.
This is an excellent novel with a compelling storyline. It would be even better if the author polished the typos and grammar. Keep up the hard work, author!
of course am the author so I have to comment on it ?? feel free to ask me any question here and make sure you join the WhatsApp group chat and get an update.
