She's independent, she's proud, and she's not going to let family obligation override her sense of fairness. And when she tells Zou Zhengting she's going out alone to the furniture factory, she doesn't ask for permission. She just states it. Zou Zhengting's dialogue is sparse but loaded. He barely speaks, but when he does, it's significant. "I still haven't bought a refrigerator. If you don't come help eat all this, it'll spoil by tomorrow." He's giving her an excuse to come over, and he's so bad at hiding it. The man can't even fake casualness. Nini's dialogue is where it gets really interesting. She's performing vulnerability when she talks to her grandmother: "I even had to pay the rent on the place I was living in myself. Being married to him was no different from being unmarried." But the narration tells us she's "sneering inwardly." She's manipulating everyone around her and she's good at it. The narrator's voice is also worth noting—it's observant without being overbearing, and it has this dry wit that comes through in lines like "Lin Rende disliked hearing unpleasant truths. Using his headache as an excuse, he retreated to his room." The author doesn't need to say more. We get it.
This scene is built on layers of conflict and the stakes keep escalating with every paragraph, and I need to unpack why this feels so tense even though nothing violent happens. On the surface level, the conflict is simple: Pei Yunshu wants to avoid Xie Changyan, and he won't let her. But the real conflict is underneath, and it's much more dangerous. But what really got me is the internal conflict Pei Yunshu is navigating. She hates Xie Changyan — the text says it directly, she fears she can't suppress her hatred or she'd be accused of harming the Crown Prince. That's a death-level accusation in this world. And yet she has to perform compliance. She has to smile. She has to let him touch her hairpin. The text says she "made a motion to dodge but failed to avoid it" — she tried, and she couldn't. That failure is devastating because it shows how trapped she is. Then there's the conflict with Xie Yanchuan, which is even more complicated. She didn't dodge the touch because she wanted him to see. She chose to endure humiliation as a kind of message. But his response — white knuckles, a question that sounds like blame — suggests he's not the ally she thinks he is. He set this up, or at least he allowed it, and now he's questioning her choices like he has any standing to do so. The suspense here isn't about what will happen next — it's about how much more Pei Yunshu can endure before she snaps. And the author knows we're all waiting for that moment. The tension isn't in the plot; it's in the silence between what she says and what she means, between what she does and what she's capable of doing if pushed far enough.

I'm giving 1 star in character design because he literally broke his streak and promise to his grandfather because Maria literally pressured him to do so. keep in mind that this same guy is the one who said "once you break it once it's easier to break again" it just broke the immersion and the character image I had in mind
the writing and grammer should be worked upon I have only read chapter 1 so far but from what I see that's the major issue along with the MC not panicking or being more confused the tech integration doesn't seem flush either
